Who is the greatest female artist?
Only correct answer, this is now a Björk thread
This thread will be filled with sexism and people rating their desire to have sex with any musician posted.
That said, I don't know about greatest, but Patti Smith is my personal favourite.
Now I'll leave before someone replies to me with "oh it's sexist to find women attractive now?"
I also like Joanna Newsom, I went and actually read all the lyrics to Emily last night and damn
you mean the ONLY female artist?
>No one has posited that Meredith Graves is the greatest
Excuse me, but this is problematic
>muh dumb opinion is an argument
A Y Y Y
>you will never bork a young bjork
Reminder to go to bjork.fr for all the best pictures.
This is exactly why I hate you people. Instead of listening to musically proficient artists like Regina Spektor you choose some SJW cunt, who has literally no talent. Fuck you.
sorry kids, come back when you can write serious music
Personal favorite is St. Vincent but I don't know if I'd call her the greatest. Bjork seems like a pretty good choice. Can't think of very many others I'd be comfortable calling better (not necessarily just enjoyable to me). Haven't listened to Joanna Newsom though, who always gets praise around here.
Someone above mentioned Carole King. I haven't listened to her too much but I've enjoyed what I've heard. Same with Joni Mitchell.
Which ever one you have enjoyed the most so far.
It was probably a cavewoman who sung amazing songs that went through hundreds of key changes that she made up while she was sitting in nature.
If you are looking for GOAT female music, definitely listen to Tapestry and Joni Mitchell's album Blue.
Also, check out James Taylor's covers of Carole King songs. It never really clicked how brilliant the song "You've Got a Friend" was until I heard him do it.
She's a great actor, but her music isn't so great. Here are some better female musicians:
Bianca Maria Meda
Élizabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre
Gabriela Lena Frank
Hildegard von Bingen
Jin Hi Kim
Joan La Barbara
Lois V Vierk
Ramona Andra Xavier
Rosa Giacinta Badalla
Ruth Crawford Seeger
Sarah Kirkland Snider
good list, but I think its wasted on these bjork-spamming plebs.
posting lots of pictures of your favorite "artist" doesn't make them any better.
Bjork was ok in the 90s. thats about it.
fuck yeah. great stuff:
That's where you're wrong my friend.
That's pretty cool, I wasn't aware.
Props. I actually really like Bjork, but am a little disturbed by how little Bjork fans are willing to look beyond her as if she was the be all and end all of music made by women.
greight beight meight
>the only listenable composers are male.
That's just not true mate.
>implying Sofia Gubaidulina's Viola Concerto isn't one of the best Viola Concertos ever written.
The first sign of plebbiness is recognising only two artists from a long list of patrician artists.
>the only listenable composers are male
closed mind detected
>people use pleb and patrician unironically
>i cant argue so i post SICK MEMES
Because it is becoming increasingly evident that I am the only literate person on /mu/
90% of you are under 16.
>That's just not true mate.
None of them are, by definition.
Go whine about triggering, cunt
Regina Spektor. Listen to her earlier stuff, it's mind blowing. She's so talented and intelligent.
