Figure I would give some feedback as an OP
I listened to the Messenger so far.
You guys sound tight as a band. I feel the chemistry. The tone of the bass during the solo is tasty as fuck. The guitar solo is rad as fuck too. The call and response type solo was a cool approach.
Constructive criticism.
The overall sound is a bit thin and muffled which is a bummer since you guys got the technique and sound tight as a band. How did you guys record this? And you guys can definitely argue that it's a garage band type sound though.
Awesome job overall on that track though. Keep it up!

Never was a fan of this type of music but holy shit this kicks ass.
The production is stellar. The guitar technique is great.
If I can be a bit nitpicky, I would've liked some more change in dynamic throughout the songs (like in Overcomer). Although, you did this track 2. The dynamic contrast between the heavy and fast section with the clean guitar section was great.
Awesome work.

Crown of Life bassist, thanks all! We know the production quality on the album sucks. The producer was also the recording engineer and he was paid in 2 packs of smokes, taco bell, and $25. It was also recorded in a basement using SM58s and some old gear.

>>52384246
A little bit. Pressed records tend to be more expensive (~$500 for a batch of 100, pricing does vary depending on the company), lathe cuts are generally cheaper. The few lathe records I own are pretty damn cool.
"All lathe cut records are in mono. Lathe cut records are also prone to distorting in the higher frequencies, but this is offset by the fact that they can represent a deeper and stronger bass signal than vinyl records. Polycarbonate plastic is also very prone to build up of static electricity and lathe cuts are, as a result, virtual dust magnets."
http://www.nrpressing.com/?p=1201
Here's a few sites that specialize in lathe-cut records, most have quotes for their commissions:
http://www.audiogeography.com/records.htm
http://meeprecords.com/
http://www.nrpressing.com/?p=1201
Hope this helped!
>>52384246
Also, I'd like to add that limited run lathe cuts are pretty popular with the record crowd. The few releases I've seen on bandcamp have gone fairly quick.
