Soundscape Music that isn't ambient.

This, for example
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_phS3ZpmAQ

At first it sounds like you are on the beach of a volcanic island on a helicopter, but as time goes on you start travelling through the island, until there's a moment in which the helicopter decides to enter the volcano, and you can see the lava, almost touching you, and you can feel how hot the temperature is, all of this is done with the music alone. Time goes on and the helicopter decides to get out of the volcano and you discover that the island is now suffocated by the volcanic gas.

You might want to check more of their stuff. Free Hand is my favorite album by them.
Also, Sing to God by Cardiacs takes the "multiple people singing differnt things" to the extreme, where there are some points in which there are ten, or more voices singing at the same time! Don't remember what song was it exactly, but try with Bellyeye, Manhoo, or Fiery Gun Hand.
