1. Person wants to find new music. Person doesn't know what they're looking for, just that they want new music.

2. When they go to a sharethread, they aren't looking for anything specific. If they are using the archive, they will have to use it to look for something they specifically want.

3. This kind of person most likely waits for new sharethreads to pop up and listen to the previews that sound interesting and download the albums with song previews that they liked, since they aren't looking for anything specific. It would be difficult for such a person to use the archive, because they don't know what they're looking for.

okay, I'm with you so far. I even go into sharethreads not knowing what I'll get.

the thing is, the archive and sharethreads serve different purposes. You use the archive to download something you are looking for, you go into a sharethread to go in and grab music that isn't in the archive that others want to share with you.

Yeah, that's how everyone uses sharethreads. That is their purpose.

Once again two different purposes. And in the case of this thread the one album shared and the one album requested are both in the archive already. If those two people had looked in the archive they would have been able to download those two things just fine.

Making a thread for popular music that is most likely in the archive is only appealing to people that either don't know how oor don't bother looking in the archive. I don't know how I could make this any more clearer.

you guys dont seem to grasp the point of this. sharethreads arent only to put new things into the archive/find obscure music.

theyre there to find music you havent listened to obscure or not. yes threads like these (if it worked) may be filled with albums already in the archive. the point is for the reader of the thread to see albums they may have avoided for no particular reason maybe read what is put in the genre/description and be intrigued. granted i didnt have to post the link (because it is in the archive) i did anyways for anyone who didnt want to check the archive. theres nothing wrong with putting duplicates of a link in the archive

i look at share threads often and maybe thought it would be interesting to have a thread that wasnt full of obscure artists. i want to be shared music that isnt obscure because i tend to not enjoy as much. not off principle of it being obscure but because they tend to be not famous for a reason (not always obviously)

this thread failed not because it was dedicated to un obscure albums. rather because people took offense to it and everyone just kinda bitched about it instead. if everyone put aside the fact that it was different for a second and just did what it said in the start maybe someone wouldve gotten something out of it instead we got a pointless argument.

i would just be adding to the shitty-ness of this thread if i only posted this argument so heres another album. (the one ligitimate critique is i only posted 1 album that was stupid of me i apologize)
