Weighing With Souls With Sand is definitely worth sitting down and giving it a try. You'll be very surprised it's not strictly ambient.
I think drone puts more emphasis on long hard,monotonous notes.
Ambient is more about just..."ambience".Pure ambient music will work great for background noise

It sounds similar to Stone In Focuss by Aphex Twin. I don't think it's a bad track in the context of the album but it doesn't evoke much emotion or anything else really.
