Post your favorite album of all time.
You can only post one.
This at the moment.
I'm excited to check out Zappa's other albums
I like these.
well yeah. classical and traditional music don't really lend themselves to the album format as well as rock or jazz. not for a long time they didn't anyway.
love it. its consistnetly been my favorite for years
>15 unique posters
>OP said only one album
Gospel - The Moon Is A Dead World
Not the best album i've ever heard but by far my favorite
Cap'n Jazz - Shmap'n Shmazz
it's the cover of disc two of death grips' fourth and final studio album, the powers that b., which at this time does not have a confirmed release date.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Electric Ladyland
Queensrÿche - Operation: Mindcrime
I am, and it's not. A number of Exmilitary's tracks were recorded and released prior to the rest of them on the Death Grips EP, along with Full Moon, Face Melter, and Death Grips.
TMS and every album afterward was recorded with an album in mind. Exmilitary is a collection of assorted songs that they didn't associate with each other to the extent they did with their other albums, hence it's a mixtape.
Also it was released for free because of the heavy uncleared sampling, which is common practice as far as hip hop mixtapes go.
I bet you only like half the songs
Diamanda Galas - The Litanies of Satan
maudlin of the Well - Bath
The Remixed version is what makes it push up to #1. Not one bad song on it.
The best ambient/electronica album I've ever heard.
Great discussion going on here guys. You've really enlightened me on your tastes and preferences.
This is the best worst album
was going to post Fuck Your Emotional Bullshit, but it's an EP so it doesn't count here
Also 10/10s in my book.
Not in my favourites, but good ones.
I honestly don't listen to it often though, I have to be in exactly the right mood for it. When I am though, man, it's just so deeply satisfying.
This one is fantastic, but right now I would have to say...
Musically, this isn't it. But the emotions that hit me on my first listen were so fucking crazy that it has to be my choice.
I like that album. It's so varied.
Why do you like this more than Wave?
Not OP but
“From whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some trans-Atlantic military giant step the earth and crush us at a blow? Never. All the armies of Europe and Asia...could not by force take a drink from the Ohio River or make a track on the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years. No, if destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide.”
I mean fuck, it opens with a Lincoln speech in a time right before the country was torn apart by civil war, and that theme continues through the rest of the album
I'm also from New Jersey so it doesn't hurt how jersey this band is
I guess I was going through a lot of the same shit Stickles was singing about at the time of release. Moving to a new city, anxiety and substance issues, relationship on the rocks, and ultimately admitting defeat and retreating to my childhood home to regroup. It helped me through a rough transitional period that made me the person I am today.
Damn right. It makes me sad that speech-craft today isn't to the same standard. Patrick always picks really great quotes. The quote at the end of "Fear and Loathing in Mahwah, NJ." is a ripper.
He was a genius but literally 2deep4 the mainstream by that time
My niggas incorporated.
Pretend I posted Emergency and I too btw.
my fucking nigger
mine is pic related or Illinoise
This record reaches me like no other, the instrumentation, production, and overrall sound of this record are perfect. Best album by the best band ever.
Second is this. Shame his second album sucked.
Late 2 da party
2nd album cover I've ever considered getting tattooed on me. Also an absolutely phenomenal album, not like anything else I've ever heard before or since.
but seriously its actually this
i feel u, this makes my top ~5
same as ^
This album helped me through a lot of rough times
I used to have really terrible anxiety attacks, and Thomas Kalnoky's lyrics made me feel like someone else understood
It's hard to show to people because of the stigma around third wave ska
Luckily Kalnoky released Streetlight Lullabies
This has been my favorite for many years
I honestly prefer For Long Tomorrow
this most likely due to nostalgia. Jon Hopkins' Insides is a close runner up
tell me youve checked out his buddy's project Naked Days
his releases are all produced by Will and hell Will even name drops him/samples one of his songs in The Ending Of Dramamine
First music outside of the top 40 that i liked, got me playing guitar and is basically my benchmark when i'm thinking about music or writing it
Fuck this album. I tried listening to it 2 days ago and I was like "Hey, this sounds too quiet, let me turn on the volume a little bit", only to get earraped ten seconds later. wtf
Dookie became a worldwide commercial success, peaking at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and charting in seven countries. The album helped propel Green Day, and even punk rock music into mainstream popularity.
Only their second best in my opinion.
Not my all time favorite, but it's the only thing I've been able to listen to for the past 2 weeks.
At the moment I think this is pretty fucking great
I can no longer fight off my love for this album. Give me shit
KMD = DOOM + subroc
You honestly prefer it to DOOM's later work? What A Niggy Know is dope as fuck and the rest is really good but I could never put it over Madvillainy or Operation Doomsday
