>>
midcity was more abrasive, so you should listen to that if you haven't already
>>
>>50807996
Definitely look into midcity

Some other "experimental" hip hop albums worth check out this year:
Man Bites Dog - Noir ( Hip hop combined with noise and industrial. completely different formula from death grips and clipping )

The Koreatown Oddity - 200 Tree Rings (Very very similar too Clipping but with out the random noise sequences, basically very interesting beats with a rapper that sounds alot like the mc's from clipping)

Death Grips - Niggas on the moon (If you listen to clipping you had probably been listening to death grips long before so your probably familiar with this album)

Cities Aviv - COME TO LIFE ( Production very similar to clipping, less dark and alot more abstract. lots of reverb with great use of percussion. If you liked man bites dog - noir, check this one out as well )

got a zip for that?

Skip the rap element entirely and go with something like this. It sounds like Clipping is sampling these guys half the time anyway.
>>
>>50808284

Yeah, Death Grips is basically what you're looking for. NotM is way better than many people say it is. It's as good as their best.

Midcity is fucking insane, thanks

judging by 200 Tree Rings he deems to be in the LA underground scene

he's friends with a bunch of Brainfeeder guys (Ras G, Jeremiah Jae, Oliver the 2nd), got a couple of House Shoes productions, got a Giovanni Marks (aka Subtitle, who has worked a lot with Thavius Beck) production and even got Aceyalone on a track

body and blood fucking sucks, it sounds like babby's first hardstyle song with some corny as shit rapping over it. I literally cringe whenever I hear that "TWERK SOMETHIN GURL, TWERK SOMETHIN GURL" part of the hook.

get up is pretty good though.

I have a friend who's a /mu/tant who likes clipping.

When midcity came out I showed it to him and he hated it. Then when CLPPNG came out all the sudden he was a huge fan.

midcity is so much better than clppng.
Fuck you jack, you piece of shit fantano drone
>>
>>50813267
>midcity is better than CLPPNG

This is objectively false
Midcity is generic, fairly pedestrian noise with spoken word layered over the top with little attention paid to how to structure anything

CLPPNG is a complete deconstruction of hip hop tropes with far more attention paid to songwrit Ng, melody and rhythm
>>
>>50808284
I really like CLPPNG, but I can't get into Death Grips and midcity was a meh.

I suppose I don't really like the darkness a lot.

Any tips for me?
>>
>>50810017
I thought it was very much intentionally bad.

>>
>>50813893
if you like clppng over midcity and "can't into deathgrips" you are a pleb.

CLPPNG is literally the accessible clipping. album, and I don't even like DG anymore, I grew out of my noise rap phase, but if you can't find a single song by DG you like and claim to like CLPPNG you probably didn't give it a thorough listen.
>>
>>50813926
not him, but i like death grips and I like CLPPNG over Midcity.
I love both albums but CLPPNG's actual hip hop content is better
Daveed improved between the albums
>>
>>50813149
No.

Half the people here like it the other half loathe him with a passion
>>
>>50813926
Man, fuck off. I don't want to be an autist locked up in a cellar listening to Death Grips all day, that shit is melancholic and dark, go fuck yourself.
>>
>>50813949
both midcity and CLPPNG are mediocre lyrically. Midcity had more interesting non-lyrical components. To each his own though.

>>50814000
Why the fuck are you here you fucking turbo pleb, if you can't find the time in your entire miserable existence to listen to 5 fucking albums start to finish, just go to reddit. Fuck I hate you people sometimes.
>>
>>50814032
i loooved clppng's lyrics
plus his speed and delivery improved
>>
>>50814062
wow really? you liked the lyrics on clppng?
give other examples of hip-hop you listen to, genuinely interested at this point.
>>
>>50814076
lately i've been listening to Outkast, Deltron 3030, Shabazz Palaces, Milo, Busdriver, E-40, Mick Jenkins, Mac Dre, Migos (its fun fuck off), and Freddie Gibbs
>>
>>50814032
LMAO you are the best retard I've ever met here. Jesus christ are you a pretentious snob, you don't even know anything about me and assume the worst because I don't like Death Grips. You fucking obnoxious obese fart cum stained pillow of spunk, unbelievable.
>>
Dälek
Black Hand Path
Moodie Black
Death Grips
>>
>>50814154
>Black Hand Path
holy shit this is great
>>
>>50814129
not bad, you don't have to excuse migos to me either they are in the top 5 on my last.fm because they are fun.

>>50814138
I assumed the worst about you because according to you, you did not give it a proper listen. I don't care how much you dislike something upon first listen, you shouldn't dismiss it so easily. As I've said before, I don't even like DG anymore, I don't care that you disliked them, but you clearly never even gave them a proper chance.

/mu/ is supposed to be pretentious and snobby you fucking retard, just because you are new doesn't make that any different. Go back to the reddit hugbox if you can't handle other people giving you rightfully earned shit.
>>
>>50807996
you might like this, op. The lyrics are obnoxious and somewhat abrasive, but that's why I like it. Production isn't insanely "noisy", but it's still very good. Expect some danny brown-tier raunchiness.
>>
>>50814281
im so stupid, forgot pic
>>
OP here, thanks everyone, currently listening to midcity and then it's man bites dog.
>>
>>50807996
Maybe not to similiar to this but listen to Techno Animal and Ice
>>
>>50812279
I dig it. It's like this is to alt rap what as hc punk is to rock and roll.
>>
>>50816518
how did you like man bites dog?

Impressive, heard it last night while falling asleep and I'm listening to it agan and loving it, I thought I imagined some parts, really good.

I personally made the mistake of being a fan of death grips and then buying clipping because "they're the same" .
Death grips is definitely more abrasive, but lyrically. you wont get autotune club songs like on clppng.

>he hasn't been to clipping. shows with his friends
They're really good live. Daveed is a good performer and his delivery fantastic. Plus they'll do noise breaks and you can pick out the plebs in the crowd.
>>
>>50820868
Those noise breaks are so fucking intense. Everyone gets crazy and starts moshing it's excellent
>>
>>50821124
At the shows I went to the people who knew what was up got into it. The plebs were clearly bored and didn't know what was going on.
