It's been a while since we had one of these, so it's time for an avant-garde sharethread. Share noise, eai, onkyo, outsider music, whatever as long as it's outside traditional musical conventions. I'm sharing Vinyl Tranquiliser by Otomo Yoshihide, it's turntable music with elements of indeterminacy and sound collage. Each track lasts exactly one minute.

https://rbt.asia/mu/thread/S49651771
https://rbt.asia/mu/thread/S49687737
These are all the ones I remember, post more links to previous avant-garde sharethreads if I missed any.
On a sidenote, if anyone has Atläs' self-titled in a decent format, I'd love it. Can't find it on slsk or what.cd.
Anyway, enjoy sharing the weirdness, guys.

what are the best obscure records to rub my tiny dick to?
>>
>>50290928
traditional folk. almost nobody cares about it so you don't have to worry about being called out.
>>
>>50287654
fun fact: best guitarist ever shawn lane did a conlon nancarrow style composition with guitar dubbing. a young buckethead heard a recording of this and, believing shawn was actually playing each note himself in real time, developed his famous finger nubbing technique in an effort to replicate what he believed was shawn's playing.

i think it's neat.

a record of earthquake recordings and a calm narrator stating where each earthquake was, and at what speed you're hearing it.

I found this at a thrift store not too long ago, and couldn't find anything online about it, so I ripped it.

Randall McCellan - The Healing Music of Rana
>Randall McClellan was a founding member of the electronic music studio at the Eastman School of Music in 1967 where he later received a Ph.D. in Composition, Theory and Musicology. With an interest in North Indian music and vocal techniques, he released several ambient cassettes that have recently been re-released on Sun Araw's label. Collection also includes a ridiculous "Music as a Healing Force Lecture" which is pretty out there.

Martin Tétreault / Kid Koala – Phon-O-Victo [Les Disques Victo] (2007) [v0]
>Abstract, Musique Concrète, Free Improvisation, Experimental turntable music
>Recorded at the 22th Festival international de musique actuelle de Victoriaville (Québec, Canada), May 21, 2006. Tétreault and Koala worked on a duo set that would bridge their differences through what they had in common: a fondness for old self-help and demonstration records. Humor was thus on the agenda. Only 38 minutes of the performance ended up on the disc, and those are, for the most part, the more abstract parts of the set.

Martin Tétreault – La Nuit Où J'Ai Dit Non [Audioview] (1997) [v0]
>Experimental free improv turntable musique concrete
>La nuit où j’ai dit non reveals a lesser known aspect of Martin Tétreault’s work. Here, nothing is brutal nor exacerbated; the music is instead ambient, cosmic, electronic… Hovering improvisations which develop through slow rhythms, long crossfades and delicate collages. La nuit où j’ai dit non is an intergalactical opera of space age musique concrète, chock full of details. All of this is the result of 25 LPs revolving on 4 turntables.

Christian Marclay – More Encores [No Mans Land] (1989) [v0]
>Experimental, electronic, Turntable music
>Each of the pieces here is dedicated to an artist whose records were used to create it. In the case of the Cage composition, Marclay cut slices from several records and pasted them back together on a single disc. On everything else the records were mixed together via several turntables simultaneously, then recorded and overdubbed in analogue. So what does it sound like? It's a mess, pure and simple. But in many cases, it's a compelling mess.

DJ Yoda & Heritage Orchestra - G. Prokofiev Concerto for Turntables [Nonclassical] (2009) [V0]
>turntablism, orchestral music
>G. Prokofiev Concerto for Turntables is the result of the successful synthesis of strange bedfellows; hip hop and classical orchestral music, "the Concerto For Turntables & Orchestra was borne to explore the tradition of cross pollination between art music and folk/dance idioms...", much more than generic string arrangements set to dance beats, the different styles are blended interestingly with it often being difficult to determine sample/turntable from orchestra until a section of instruments are abruptly scratched, distorted, looped, or otherwise interfered with, the sounds are characterized by unique rhythmic qualities and dense, carefully arranged compositions, under 300 listeners

Capture
>Capture is an ironic solution to the crisis of industrial cultures. For years, the music industry continues to stage its disappearance, because the Internet users illegally download mp3 files. Capture is such a productive fictitious rock group, that nobody can consume everything. It produces new music, words, images, videos and derived products every hour. Every new file is automatically translated into other forms. If an mp3 file is downloaded once, it is erased from the server and therefore, it is the ‘consumer’ who becomes the only possible broadcaster. It submits new messages on Facebook and Twitter at every minute. A vast number of tasks are simultaneously automated that even the band members cannot listen to everything. In submerging the consumption by generative technologies, Capture reverses the consumerism ideology and the relation between desire and objects.

Various Artists - Voices of the Rainforest [1991] [160]
>nature recordings, Papuan traditional music, released on Smithsonian Folkways, liner notes included
>Voices of the Rainforest is a recorded soundscape of a day in the life of the Kaluli people of Bosavi, Papua New Guinea. As the day progresses, one hears birds, water, insects and other ambient voices of the rainforest interspersed with Kaluli songs and instrumental sounds of work, leisure and ritual. The album was recorded with Mickey Hart's advanced field recording gear by anthropologist and ethnomusicologist Dr. Steven Feld. Feld’s closeness to the Kaluli people afforded him a unique recording opportunity, and the quality of the recording equipment yielded among the clearest aural experiences of the rainforest short of being there. For further information about the community that created this music, visit the Bosavi Peoples Fund website. Voices of the Rainforest was issued in 1991 as part of “THE WORLD” series (now part of the Mickey Hart Collection made available by Smithsonian Folkways).
