Does the new shellac count?
YOU SLUT ... :(
Listened this for the first time last night. Reccing it hard to any math rock fans who haven't heard it. Avant-Math God was right all along.
niggas don't know bout dat Sajjanu
How can Slint be so good at three genres at once, AND create such atmosphere? They were only what.. Like 18 when they wrote Spiderland? The closest I can think of is Yndi Halda writing Enjoy Eternal Bliss when they were 17. I mean, shits just impressive

Math rock, post-rock and what's the third? Post-hardcore?
Saw these two bands last night and they were really cool. Highly recommended if you like mathy post hardcore like The Fall of Troy or A Lot Like Birds.

Yeah, they were hugely influential for all three. I just don't get how these guys can come out of nowhere and just blow everyone away
Planets are pretty cool, but especially on this song

Do you think Tweez would've had a greater impact if it hadn't been produced the way it was?
>>50236102

Avey Tare was in his teens when he wrote some of STGSTV.
>>50236820
he wrote penny dreadfuls when he was like 16
Does anybody else remember that the name of that math rock band that had a video on Youtube of them at a high school talent show? It was posted here in a musical cringe thread but everybody agreed they were fucking great.
>>50236870
seconding this

>>50236815
Wait, you haven't heard fucking SpiderLand?
Oh man, I'm actually jealous of you right now.
>>50236805
Tweez gets unfairly ignored, but only because it's in the shadow of SpiderLand.
But no, I don't think it could have had the same impact

>>50237064
good album
their victorialand ep is one of my favorite math rock releases, they're just amazing songwriters
>>50236948
He really ought to read some of the stuff about the band and the release of the album too, about how some of the members got checked into a psyche ward after its completion
It's a spooky album for that alone, not just the themes of loneliness and alienation that are so prevelant
Pic related is a pretty good math rock/post-rock

>>50237860
got any "heavier" math rock recs? like You Slut!?
>>50237779
.... im not. Just cos they're that unknown doesn't automatically mean I'm a member self-marketing. The reason i posted them was because they are so unknown.
regardless, stop hating. It gets you nowhere
>>50237905
Idk, try some Tera Melos, Hella, Ruins, Planets, Swims, Macho Muchacho, some About Tess stuff is mathy and they got pretty heavy grooves going
