I'll be sharing 46 of my favourite or most interesting Folk Metal or Folk Metal related albums. Feel free to share some of your own if you have anything interesting. I apologize beforehand for my awful descriptions, I'm not very good at them, but the samples should help.

Cabrakaän - Of Love And Death EP (2013)
>Mexican Female Fronted Symphonic Folk Metal
Cabrakaän is a Mexican band that utilizes two vocalists, a clean female and harsh male vocalist, and adds in a bunch of instrumentation in there. Some native mexican instruments, keyboards, the whole shebang, yet the guitars remain the most important instrumentation to the album, which guide the tracks through melodious segments.

Ignis Fatuu - Unendlich Viele Wege (2014)
>German Folk Metal/Mittelalter
Ignis Fatuu is probably the best of the Mittelalter bands, a large wave in Germany that doesn't really seem to get all that popular outside of it. It's common for bands in the genre to have a slow pace, a melodious, sing along attitude and predictable song structures. Unendlich Viele Wege is a bit less predictable, with more variations in speed and interesting flute lines with a good vocalist.

Weeping the Black - Tormentor Ego Martyr (2011)
>Italian Progressive Folk Metal
Weeping the Black has only publically released one demo so far. Tormentor Ego Martyr sounds very unique, with a lot of percussion being used like a Djembe and a percussion digeridoo, interwoven well within the demo, which still has a high production value. The demo is pretty slow paced, but has a high variety in its intensity with the rhythmic percussion providing the baseline to the tracks.

Crom - The Fallen Beauty EP (2003)
>German Viking/Power Metal
The earliest real release from Crom, the EP suffers from relatively poor production quality, but with The Fallen Beauty this is actually a plus, with their follow-ups going a bit too far into the epic category. The Fallen Beauty succeeds in its simplicity and reminds a lot of Bathory, which makes it unsurprising there's a Bathory cover on it.

Saor - Aura (2014)
>Scottish Atmospheric Folk/Black Metal
Aura is a record you won't catch on creativity, but the execution is solid. A lot of celtic instrumentation is used throughout without becoming cheesy, sticking close to the Atmospheric Black Metal niche. The vocals are a bit watered down compared to other Atmospheric acts, but it doesn't weaken the record.

Orphaned Land - Mabool - The Story Of The Three Sons Of Seven (2004)

Orphaned Land is a ambitious Progressive Folk Metal band, building complex rhythms, frequent solos and symphonic elements into their music. The album has a lot of progressive rock influences as well as middle-eastern influences in the instrumentation through both vocals and string instrumentation.

Svaskalver - ?????? ?????? (2014)
>Russian Female Fronted Folk Metal
Svaskalver is similar to Veremiy in its range, with the tempo rarely going over midtempo and the focus being placed mostly on the vocals. The tracks in general are upbeat and sometimes border on drinking songs. How much you like Svaskalver will mostly rely on how much you like the vocalist.

M.A.I.M. - Hostëria EP (2014)
>Italian Power Folk Metal
Hostëria is a Folk Metal EP with an attitude. There's a few Power Metal elements in there, mainly in the drums and the vocals, but it is still distinctly Folk through the flute which is omnipresent in all tracks. The songwriting is surprisingly good, with rhythmic sections connecting in a very coherent manner.

It's really well executed, I'll give it that.

Melechesh - Sphynx (2003)
>Middle Eastern Blackened Death Folk Metal
Melechesh has a vocalist that sounds eerily much like Steve Souza from Ex-Exodus in the snarly vocals. Sphynx is a beast of an album, keeping a tough pace throughout the record whilst adding only a minimum amount of folk instrumentation here and there. The band is very riff-oriented.

Geasa - Angel's Cry (1999)
>Irish Celtic Black Folk Metal
A technical effort from the Irish band, uncommon for the genre. Each instrument has its time in the sun. The vocals differ between a haunting, desperate, echoing clean falsetto to a more standard black metal voice. A lot of more complex rhythmic changes make the album stand out from a lot of its contemporaries.

Yggdrasil - Vedergällning (2009)
>Swedish Black Folk Metal
Yggdrasil is a band that took a lot of inspiration from Moonsorrow, but crafted their songs in a different way. The similarities lie in the emphasis on developing melodies throughout their songs, but Yggdrasil takes on a more lighthearted atmosphere and includes more clean segments throughout their music. Good for fans of Moonsorrow that want something slightly less intense.

Thyrfing - De Ödeslösa (2013)
>Swedish Black Viking Metal
Thyrfing has always had the every song sounds very similar syndrome, which is still mostly in place in terms of the mid to slowpaced tempo in which the band chugs along, but a few more elements, both symphonic, song structure as production wise make their latest effort feel rejuvenated.

Varg - Wolfszeit (2007)
>German Pagan Metal
One-album wonder Varg is a German Pagan metal band mostly known in Germany. They're similar to Equilibrium in their usage of "epic" elements and in their speed, though thankfully they do actually use bridges unlike the named band. Wolfszeit is an in your face album without any folk instrumentation, but are still related to the scene through their topics and folky passages within the songs.

Evenoire - Herons (2014)
>Italian Female Fronted Gothic Folk Metal
Usage of operatic vocals and symphonic elements will scare most people away, and both are present on this record. It offers more than your average Gothic Metal album though, as the lead vocalist uses a variety of styles throughout the record, with a few vocal effects here and there for variety. Evenoire writes songs pretty well, breaking up tracks with clever bridges and usage of violins.

Virrasztók - Az emlékezés órája (2009)
>Hungarian Industrial Female Fronted Folk Metal
What happens when you add electronic elements to a folk metal band? Well, this. The band has very clear links to both Industrial Metal as well as Folk Metal, and it's hard to put one above the other. The vocals of female lead Orsolya tend to lead into the Folkier sections, whereas shaman Scrofa leads in the more industrial sections. The song structures feel a bit off at times, but it's to be expected with the myriad of instrumentation.

Falkenbach - ...Magni Blandinn Ok Megintiri (1997)
>German Viking Metal
If there was ever a band to shamelessly copy Bathory, it would have to be Falkenbach. In themes, in the guitar tuning, in song structures, just about everything. Fortunately, Bathory is so good that it still makes them a good band. The use of harmonic vocals is well done, and the riffs are good. Worth checking out if you really like Bathory.

Ulver - Bergtatt (1994)
>Norwegian Black Folk Metal
A harmonic effort from the multi-genre act Ulver, it draws a lot of influence from Bathory's Blood Fire Death and Hammerheart, but makes it into its own thing by alternating the clean and harsh vocals. The album is a template to a lot of Viking/Folk metal bands, particularly those that edge on the atmospheric end of the spectrum.

Voluspaa - Asa (2010)
>Norwegian Black Folk Metal
Voluspaa is the brainchild of Freddy Skogstad, whom also plays all instruments. Though the band was founded in 1994, it wasn't until 2010 that the first album was released, and a lot of things feel similar to other viking acts like Bathory and later Vintersörg, though the pacing is less consistent. Voluspaa focuses a lot on vocal harmonies much in the vein of Bathory.

Turisas is a band that's been going downhill for a while and I feel bad for anyone who has had to go through Turisas 2013. On the Varangian Way, however, the band showcases its ability to write songs. The symphonic elements are used where they make sense, and the band lets specific instruments have their time in the sun when it makes sense. Black and clean vocals used throughout are good as well.

Tengger Cavalry - Ancient Call (2014)
>Chinese Black Folk Metal
A thrashy band that utilizes throat singing and Chinese string instrumentation. A short summary of Tengger Cavalry's ancient call. The vocals are distinctly Black Metal, but the pacing is more resembling of a band like Kvelertak than Folk or Black metal. The chinese instrumentation is applied in an Equilibriumesque way for the most part, simply going along with the song rather than waiting for individual moments.

Nydvind - Eternal Winter Domain (2006)
>French Nordic Folk Metal
Nydvind and Bran Barr were interconnected with a few members, band leader Yoltar being one of them. Nydvind takes a far slower and more bleak approach to the genre, removing all Folk instrumentation and the emphasis on the drums and putting it on the guitar. Eternal Winter Domain has a very buzzy, wintery guitar sound somewhat remniscent of Entombed, with simple but effective song structures reminding one of Bathory.

Fejd - Nagelfar (2013)
>Swedish Folk Rock/Metal
Fejd utilizes a large amount of native Swedish instruments, a Swedish Harp being the most prominent throughout the album. Nagelfar, like all of Fejd's efforts, border in between Metal and Rock. The band utilizes a lot of sing-along choruses, which even if you don't speak Swedish, you can make out enough to sing along. It's a very swedish experience.

??????? - ???, ?? ????? ?????... (2012)
>Ukranian Folk Rock/Metal
Similar to Fejd only in genre, Veremiy takes a far more conventional approach to the genre, with a conventional setup backed up by a violin and a flute which play a supportive role on the album. The vocals of band leader Vitali are clean, but low, and they have a similar feel in their sound to fellow Ukranian band Flëur.

And the last 6 I'm posting I'd consider a 9 or higher.
An Norvys - One and All EP (2011) + Sins and Stones EP (2012)
>French Female Fronted Celtic Folk Metal
An Norvys is a band that stands out through its extensive use of the violin, which is usually the foundation to their tracks, particularly on One and All. The unique vocals of Liliane Bos are something listeners will either love or hate, and it's alternated with harsh vocals on the sophomore Sins and Stones, which contains their most well written tracks, whereas One and All focuses mostly on melody.

Heidevolk - Uit Oude Grond (2010)
>Dutch Folk Metal
Heidevolk is the most well known Folk Metal band from the Netherlands. Their biggest claim to fame is the bombastic dual vocals that they employ which they place a lot of emphasis on. Heidevolk doesn't use a lot of folk instrumentation, only featuring violin on a select few tracks. They're good at interweaving different melodies into their songs in a coherent manner.

???? - ? ????? ?????? (2011)
>Russian Female Fronted Folk Metal
???? is a fairly unknown band, but they have created perhaps the most perfect cheerful Folk Metal record to date in ? ????? ??????, translated to Our Native Land. The harmonious vocals of the three female vocalists provides the forefront, but is backed up by a very capable rhythm section. One of the few Folk Metal bands that might be more Folk than Metal.

Bathory - Blood on Ice (1996)
>Swedish Viking Metal
Bathory, the band that started the genre we now know as Viking Metal reached the epitome of their creativity with Blood on Ice, a concept album about a young boy that watched his entire tribe get wiped out, only to be met by Odin himself, sending him on a journey that eventually leads to him slaying a dragon. The song structures are simple, but the execution is superb, and almost impossible not to sing along to.

Arkona - Ot Serdca K Nebu (2007)
>Russian Female Fronted Black Folk Metal
The Russian outfit Arkona is the brainchild of Masha Scream, whom does most of the songwriting for the band. Ot Serdtsa K Nebu is their most varied work, containing folk ballads, strong black metal-influenced tracks and everything in between. A very complete work where Masha's clean and black vocals are the highlights of the album.

And the final album. A highly interesting one that I'd recommend everyone to check out.
Smallman - Envision (2014)
>Bulgarian Sludge Folk Metal
Smallman is a Bulgarian band that takes a lot of influence from Tool in its bass heavy sound. The song structures are highly dynamic in its use of highs and lows, but what's most uncommon about the band is its use of bagpipes. In most Folk Metal bands they're used as a cheerful instrument. Smallman utilizes them in a very different, darker way. The vocals evoke a lot of emotion which gives the album a very personal touch. Highly recommended.

No problem man, I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I wasn't expecting much of a response anyway, was expecting more trolls than appeared but I guess that's because OP posts no longer bump the thread.
