Foreign /bleep/ edition.
What are some good national scenes, other than the usual UK/US/DE ones?

Eastern Europe seem to have some pretty active and motivated scenes. I particularly think to Romania with a:rpia:r, or the Czech Republic with the clique around Olga+Jozef.

(An IRC channel is now available for those who wish to discuss their latest Ukrainian deep house white label in real-time: #/bleep/ on irc.rizon.net).

I think the parisian scene is, at last, relevant again.
It's not an accident if Ron Morelli lives there now (if I'm not mistaken) alongside with Svengalisghost. Voiski and Low Jack EPs on L.I.E.S. are killers. Lots of other good techno acts (I've seen Polar Inertia 5 time, and it was always an incredible trip).
Since 2 ou 3 years, several labels and promoters are really making things move forward, and helped the city's night live again : In Paradisum, SNWTWN, Concrete, Construct Re-Form

talking points:
1. new shackleton is out (see nodata / FS thread)
2. new vessel track went up on soundcloud a few days ago
3. topical: yuji kondo is putting out an ep on perc trax.
>>
>>48546930
replying points:
1. currently downloading
2. listened yesterday or something. found it quite comical and annoying yet v catchy. might listen again.
3. don't know yuki kondo
>>
>>48547039
op of >>48546930
1. on my first listen. more 'freezing, thawing' vibes. that shit took me aback (i think it did most people) but it grew on me a little. this makes a lot of sense as a follow up and gets me quite excited about this new sound of his. despite how good mftqh/drawbar organs was, i think it was a good time for a change.
choral shit on b side is a bit odd tho.
still, dense, clear, polyrhythmic goodness this.

2. mixed thoughts on this similar to your own. got a bit of reznor-y vibe off those synths. not instantly recoiling in disgust but a little apprehensive about what his album's going to sound like.

3. mostly known for a few remixes. this one sticks out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWIxuMkqJlM

above average banging-'industrial'-techno. been looking forward to a proper solo ep by the guy.
>>
>>48546930
>talking points:
>1. new shackleton is out (see nodata / FS thread)

would recommend?
>>
>>48548276
not him but just from the hardwax samples it sounds really good

'adventurous', as they put it

https://hardwax.com/01000/shackleton/deliverance-series-no-1/
>>
>>48548307
by the way, listen to the digital samples, not the vinyl ones. you can skip ahead bit by bit to hear most of the track

the part where the sub comes in on the A side is sick

so yeah, definitely worth a few spins imo.

http://www.redeyerecords.co.uk/vinyl/54466-cccp-10-randomer-russian-torrent-versions-10

>>48550965
To be fair dbridge and his label are one of the few groups of people still keeping D&B relevant and moving it forwards so if anyone is entitled to a rant, it would be him. As for how it is on a PR front, yeah it looks silly but his fanbase is probably loyal enough for it to not matter that a few bandwagoners might think he's talking shit.

If you liked Scope then you will definitely love it but I think the compilation is just one track from every Samurai Horo release so far (it's a vinyl only label and this is a CD/digital release).

I personally don't dig it because I think it (and Scope) are just far, far too slow for my tastes of D&B.

Lots of early dubstep has a half time feel, giving the illusion of a bpm around 65-70.

>>
>>48551997
idk m8, I don't keep up with modern dubstep. Also pretty much everything on Big Apple was either breakstep or had a strong breakstep feel, so of course it seemed a bit fast. Lots of Tempa stuff was slower though, D1, Horsepower, Headhunter, Skream, etc.

>Lots of Tempa stuff was slower though
nah it was all @ 140bpm or thereabouts, and still is to this day... use a metronome if you don't believe me

big apple wasn't breakstep, just dubstep man. just an early version of dubstep before it really grew into its own. there's an interview with joe nice from like 2005 where he's talking about dubstep and he says "some people say that it's halftime music. but last year, people might have said it was bongo music". it wasn't a clear-cut evolution, and breakstep didn't have that much to do with these early dubstep records really

sorry for the long post
