I'm looking for a good synth for pads for under $500

what do?

i play slacker-rock ish sorta stuff and want a synth with good ambiance behind it
>>
my itunes crashed and i didn't back it up, so i lost 60k songs that i don't feel like sorting out again, i've been listening to a mixture of kpop kid rock and jazz.

uh ya my blog deal with it this threads dead as fuck anyway

>is vatican shadow the memeist meme artist to ever live?

he literally just copied muslimgauze in concept and partially sound, nothing wrong there but he can't help but get away from his edgy political titles where the songs literally have nothing to do with them, as he used to regularly make albums with piss fetish covers and the sort.
>>
>>48256831
vatican shadow is the definition of an artist who takes too much influence from an artist (too much influence makes you a rip-off) but misses the point completely in the process and ends up becoming a stale parody of the original artist

MIDI controller. There is a keyboard wavestation, but it doesn't have audio in, which I think adds a lot to it. If you just want pads then the kb is still a great choice, they're pad monsters.

or you can get vst synths and a midi controller

software has caught up to hardware for the most part, especially with the type of synths that >>48257238 mentions, since they're mostly digital and sample-based in the first place.

imo softsynths are better than going the hardware route unless you have thousands of dollars to throw at it

Would it be possible to run a live show with just two microbrutes and a drum machine (like a volca beats or korg er-1)?

Any other suggestions for a cheap live analog setup for a grand or less? I figure microbrutes are the way to go since you could set up different sequences for each of them with a drum beat and then just twiddle knobs and cycle through the 8 patterns on each for a half hour (how long I'd be performing), layering 2 or even 3 of them together since they're so cheap. The good but cheap drum machine is the main part I'm debating, I know the volca beats has a reputation for having a shit-tier snare.

If you guys can give me some good advice on getting a portable live setup going, something that even old white people could appreciate, I'll have my brother record the performance and I'll post it on youtube for you guys.

Renegade is Ray Keith and Nookie. But their most famous release is also credited as Renegade featuring Ray Keith. I don't know why, not sure if Nookie was a co-producer or the engineer, or maybe both. I think there are some Renegade releases whichj are just Ray Keith.

ceephax at bangface in belgium earlier this year, very friendly, and definitely a bit mad.

>>48275150
yes! I met Paul last year as part of a music journalism apprenticeship with The Guardian, we made field recordings of Newhaven Fort together, very interesting guy, knows a lot not just about production but the music industry itself and exactly how it's evolved over the years.

It's pretty much just been the Scuba EPs this year I think

We haven't had an LP in a while, which would be nice

I know it's very improbable, but a new Sepalcure album would make me rock hard.

Nah not yet, but Mordant Music, the artist (and label of the same name) that put out a couple of Shackleton and Ekoplekz releases last year spoke to me at a gig last month about a possible release later in the year, so fingers crossed. :)

I put out an album on bandcamp though.

If your going for cheap drum machine your best bet is the Roland Aira TR-8. $500s for virtual analog hybrid of the 808 and 909. It's a pretty versatile machine for live set ups and you can use it to run your arpeggiator with the microbrutes step sequence. As far as synths go it really depends on what you want. The microbrute, minibrute, ms-20 mini, bass station, are all monophonic though so it really limits the amount of sound you have. What you probably are going to want a mono synth and a poly. The mono would be your bass line and the poly would handle your pads and leads. Your probably better of going for a newer synth though if your just starting out as they are a lot more user friendly than older more popular synths. I would suggest a Roland Gaia or something comparable as you can get them for fairly cheap about $400s, and they don't have a lot of the user interface problems older synths do. Once your comfortable with that you can start to add more to your repertoire based on what sounds you need. Adding something like a wavetable or rack mount for added sound.

you really don't understand what i'm saying at all. have you never been to a club in your life? have you not noticed how certain tunes get played a lot for a while, then gradually fall off the club circuit? it's the normal cycle for pretty much all tracks. it's not a bad thing, it's just what happens. doesn't mean that the tune in question isn't good anymore, it's just not new.
