/mu/, I think we should create an essential night-time-core chart
If you have any previous ones, please post them here. I'm starting off with pic related
Spiderland

COOOME FOR MEEE COOOVER MEE
obligatory
if you listen to this album during the daytime youre fucked up
>>47577274
>>47577151
>>47577275
i don't know these well, anyone else voting for them is appreciated
>>47577243
i'd say this is more of a late-evening sort of album, rather than late-night, but if it's popular it'll go on
>>47577289
1 grouper album is enough, I vote for AIA but let me know what you guys think
>>47577356
two songs can't be an essential album you retard
>>47577356
fuck stop spamming your shitty album
this was in the thread yesterday
>>47577406
>>47577422
It's still a good "EP" I guess. I'm not Foliage, why must you think i'm him? Are people now allowed to enjoy releases they find from Bandcamp?
>>47577468
a single is not going on an essential albums list, they think it's you because it's been spammed here and that's usually done by the creator
>>47577151
nah way too loud at some points.
Late-night or early sunrise.
>>47577478
It's 2 singles and oh.
It's on an essential Bandcamp list actually hahaha.
>>47577538
I have some very beautiful memories of listening to this during on a sunny afternoon, high as fuck, driving through amish country. I'll have to give it a listen some nighttime.
>>47577553
okay I'm gonna call it right now. This is the foliage faggot spamming his own shit. pls leave.
For best results:
Start at sundown and make sure "Empty Shell"
plays right as it gets dark.
>>47577478
i've only seen him "spamming" in the bandcamp thread, and yeah it's pretty annoying seeing the same releases getting circlejerked every thread, like fuck off yaknow.
>>47577591
Sounds like a great experience. I imagine listening during like 4 am would get the best effect of this album since that's what the cover shows.
>>47577733
I find the Caretaker and Nils Frahm tend to be amazing Night-time-core
>>47577751
which albums would you pick?
>>47577773
Wintermusik for Nils and Empty bliss for Caretaker.
>tfw I'm the only person who listens to Tweaker
>>47577959
>>47577538
>>47577289
>>47577003
which talk talk album and grouper album do you want?
>>47577991
my vote for spirit of eden
>>47577657
Its because they are the only good Bandcamp releases.
this has gone quite nicely, any suggestions?
>>47578151
earl 2 times?
>>47578151
>>47577733
How do you make these so quickly?
>>47578491
Trip Hop is the best nighttime music of all time
>>47577825
>listening to Tweaker
>>47578790
>not listening to Tweaker
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkkTZ7zQ3BA
Imogen Heap - Speak For Yourself
Chromatics - Kill For Love
Also Deathconciousness
>>47578151
Interpol isn't exactly nighttime. I suggest pic related
Massive Attack - Mezzanine
The Antlers - Burst Apart
Emancipator - Soon It Will Be Cold Enough
A Silver Mt Zion - He Has Left Us..
>>47578899
good ones m8
>Not putting Randy on the list.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9Fn8VhkK5g
>>47578151
I feel like cosmogramma is too upbeat for it to be night-core
>>47579046
Might as well say the same about OP's
>No swod
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm4DFv12TJ4
>>47578916
I pretty much only listen to music at night.
I think it really depends on the mood but I love listening to shit like Air late at night staring up aat the ceiling.
One of the most powerful experiences I've ever had was standing on my friend's balcony overlooking the whole city at like 5am on New Year's Day listening to this album and burning through a whole pack of cigarettes. This is an essential nighttime album.
>>47577542
If you're the kind of person who likes to walk around/ride buses in the city late at night listening to Burial, try this.
Kind of an obscure release, but Dirty Beaches' Drifters/Love Is The Devil (which is in the archive) is probably the ultimate night-core album.
Also, this thread is missing some much-needed Actress. Ghettoville is a great night-core album.
>>47577811
ma nigga
>>47578491
Yes.
Other night-core albums:
Banana Head - In The Tubs
Crystal Castles - I
Dean Blunt - The Redeemer (highly recommended)
Elliot Smith - Roman Candle
Forest Swords - Dagger Paths
Gil Scott-Heron & Jamie XX - We're New Here
Jackson C. Frank - Blues Run The Game (highly recommended)
James Ferraro - NYC, Hell, 3AM (highly recommended)
SD Laika - That's Harakiri
Shlohmo - Bad Vibes
Spooky Black - Black Silk, Forest
Squarepusher - Feed Me Weird Things
The Killers - Sawdust (I don't give a fuck what you say, /mu/)
Tim Hecker - Ravedeath 1972 (highly recommended)
Vereker - Slain
Violent Femmes - S/T, Hallowed Ground
>>47579255
This is for when it has just gotten totally dark.
>>47577733
Definitely replace Cosmogramma with this. Pretty much the seminal nightbus album
>>47579542
seconding The Redeemer and NYC hell 3AM
wild nothing and youth lagoon should be on there
shit i did this day-core and night-core chart few years ago and asked you guys about it but i never finished it.
i hope someone actually makes one.
i had a list of it but i cant find it. but albums i remember are:
totbl - interpol
trst - trust
halcyon digest - deerhunter
xx - the xx
Yo La Tengo - And then nothing... should be on there
>>47579645
>>47579689
replacing microcastle with wild nothing and cosmogramma with when the night comes
would appreciate more voting on albums too, so it can be a board-decided chart
The entire M83 discography except Hurry Up...
Also, it took 82 posts to get to this? >>47579814
>>47577733
Oh, you're actually making the thing.
In which case just this one.
Where is the updated chart?
>>47579871
I personally like Before the Dawn Heals Us better for a nighttime vibe, but this is still an excellent choice.
>>47579987
Think the problem is it depends on what kinna night you're having.
Driving home at 4am after a good night, then yep, Before the Dawn, or even Saturdays.
But if it's more like a 'walk around the city on a cold night aimlessly smoking' night, then I'd go with Dead Cities.
>>47578922
i've only updated to here, and it's getting pretty big, any that you think i should remove or replace?
>>47580042
Doris wtf? Personal taste I guess...
Black on Both sides if you want hip hop?
>>47580046
it's actually one of the chillest hip-hop albums i have. all genres are welcome really, and it seems kind of bland to have so much dream pop / ambient / post-rock
>>47580042
There are two of the same Miles Davis on there boss
this pls
Add Kate Bush - The Dreaming and Cunninlynguists - Oneirology
>>47580085
>it seems kind of bland to have so much dream pop / ambient / post-rock
Welcome to /mu/ etc.
You only need one out of Mezzanine and Dummy. I'd suggest dropping Mezzanine.
(You've got Beach House twice btw)
>>47580179
>>47580120
>>47578166
damn i'm good
>>47579542
I heard the killers cover joy division the other day on the radio and it was pretty good. They were so good during hot fuss. it's like hit or miss nowadays
No ones posted this yet?
>>47580046
I definitely think doris. Songs like chum and and Hive are hell nightcore
The chart is pretty full now, I think any additions will have to replace something
>>47580278
>the killers cover joy division
>>47580376
Lookin' pretty good. Kinna making me sleepy.
>>47580378
Are you rustie as in THE rustie?
alright i'm off for tonight, i'll check this thread in the archive tomorrow and maybe make another thread if I think it's worth it
>>47580376
Moon Safari is more happy-day core in my opinion. I don't think it should be on there. + The XX, maybe it's just me but I don't think we should have it on there.
Howabout some grouper? I feel like we definitely need some grouper.
Or pic related. Here is a sample
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHbW2mtwZKM
Or Ilyas Ahmed?
Imo, so many better choices. But that's just me
