Why do fags have no problems with listening to top 40 pop from the 50s, 60s, and 70s but if I dare listen to modern top 40 pop I'm the one with the PROBLEM?!?!
>>74708580
Association. The majority of modern top 40 listeners are young and immature whereas the appeal for vintage pop has diverted away from the lowest common denominator so it's acceptable to listen to it. Give it a couple decades and people will hold Yasutaka Nakata to the same regard as Phil Spector is held currently.

Kendrick copied the coverart.

>Muddy Waters - More Real Folk Blues
>Charley Patton - Founder of the Delta Blues
>Bukka White - Mississippi Blues

Ry Cooder

I want to get into some Johnny Cash's later material, so I was wondering, what are the best albums he put out in the 90s, or where should I start with this era?
>>74708447
His later stuff is highly overrated and doesn't really compare to his classics from the 50's, 60's and 70's but I'd say of the stuff you are referring to (the American Recordings), there's only like six albums and a box set of random oddities I think and if you really want to get into them, you might as well listen to them all since they are all very popular with hipsters
But from my personal opinion, the first two in the series are just alright with one standout song each, the third and fifth are pretty great albums with a standout song each and the fourth is the best overall of the batch
That said, I've never listened to the sixth myself or the box set (but I know one of the songs from there is pretty great and I've listened to it many times)

What exactly defines pop music? Because i know its not just popular music, it has more than that. Merriweather Post Pavillion is not popular (at least in mainstream music) and yet it is definitely pop
Are these 3 the best female artists ever?
Clairo
No.
You got one right.
>>74708332
Grimes?
Who is your role model?
Elliott Smith. Obviously I'd like to avoid the crippling heroin addiction and graphic suicide, but his songwriting ability was brilliant.
Lars, our lord and saviour

>Deletes Run For Your Life
>Replaces it with ''Ive Just Seen A Face''
Now its 10/10
>>74708167
why does everyone hate Run For Your Life? The Beatles made tons of cheap, catchy throwaway songs; why does this one in particular always catch hate? I find its lyrical theme to be kind of fun.
>>74708240
It's easily the worst track and doesn't serve as a good conclusion to the record imo.
Run For Your Life is just so good
is it generally better to get the "best of" album if you want to download a song? Like are there cases where the song is better mastered or something (or maybe the opposite?). Pic related. A lot of good songs I want from three albums and I want to start building a .flac library
>>74708152
I bought a Beach Boys best of CD for 3$ from 1991 I think
the only reason I got it was for their cover of California Dreaming

wow a critic is dumb
this is a new development
it's almost like you should be ignoring critics in pretty much every art form because they're pretentious faggots who think they have the Right Opinion™
>>74708181
it is not about opinions but politics and money.
>>74708181
Good post, but right now I would rather talk about Pitchfork and their silly biases directed by equally silly social trends rather than repeat the same tired shit ad nauseam in attempts to drown any criticism regarding current social politics.
Again though, I appreciate your attempt at censorship, I really do. But maybe next time will be your day.

Is dying at 27 the best way to become a music legend?
>>74708087
Nah, just dying young in general.
Doesn't have to be 27, but 27 is most romanticized. If you're fairly popular and die anywhere in your 20s or early 30s, you'll be remembered. After age 35 however, no one really cares unless you're a superstar like John Lennon or Elvis.
>>74708226
Thats kinda fucked
