Even the simple, more poppy jazz music of the 20s is more sophisticated overall than the most sophisticated of post-50s pop like Beatles, King Crimson, and Radiohead. What went so wrong?

You have low-mid functioning autism if you think that Yung Lean isn't a complete legend. He created all the arizona iced tea, fiji water, nintendo, anime, etc. references and "aesthetics" that are all over soundcloud today. He's arguably the first ever mumble rapper. He caused tens of thousands of people 4000+ miles away from him to thrift bucket hats and vintage windbreakers. He did all of this at age 15-16 (highschool sophomore age) just by fucking around with his friends in a dirty swedish basement. Fuck you

He took Bones, Chief Keef and Ugly Mane style and added a bunch of late 90s references so shithead kids would think they are special snowflakes for liking him. I can get behind ecco or yung gud but lean was by far the least talented swedish rapper, literal mumbling over decent beats.

I'm a hobbyist musician like many of you. I want to try putting together some synthwave-y covers of 60s-80s soft pop rock stuff. I am doing this because I want to and do not need any of you to remind me that I'm the only person in the world who wants to hear that.
I'm self-taught with my DAW and have never played an instrument, so I'm running into problems trying to score based on sheets or tabs. What I hoped when I started preparing for this project was that I'd find somewhere online saying "this song uses this chord progression for its verse structure, then switches to this for the chorus, and changes to this key during the bridge." I cannot read tabs or sheet music and I have not found anything other than tabs or sheet music that will convey this information. The internet is not giving me what I want in the format I want.

There's almost certainly someone on youtube or some free class online somewhere that could teach you to read music. I don't think you're trying very hard if you can't find something desu. Even going so far as downloading a music theory book would take you maybe 30 seconds

it's not hard to read sheet music, literally learn about the bass (f) and treble (g) cleffs and How To go upwards and downwards and your pretty much done.

Most chords are made up Of The first, third and fifth notes in the scale so a maj is ACE ,etc. Literally use the internet ou sperg.

music is the lowest art form, even lower than video games. music can barely be considered an art. every piece of music to ever be created is 100% constructed from pre-existing sounds arranged in a familiar way for your enjoyment. music does not push boundaries. music does not exist to offend you, to intrigue you, to test the limits of oneself and the tools needed to make it. music exists solely for hedonistic enjoyment.

you could argue certain pieces like john cage's 4'33 and various noise compositions (a-la merzbow) are the logical defense against my claims, but those are simply not music by definition, because music is catchy and enjoyable (i.e shit).
