What are some bands that managed to invent their own genre? I know Cardiacs invented pronk, and Magma invented zeuhl. What are some other examples?

I bet you faggots own 8-tracks
Woh, what the fuck is that Miles?
I might have listened to his bebop/hardbop before, and stuff like Bitches Brew and Sketches of Spain are godlike.
But this?
Not sure I can like it one day, sounds pretty cheesy. And I have nothing against 80's sonorities when they're well used. But it just sounds...kinda bad.
Anyways...please excuse my terrible english and let's have a jazz thread.
Don't hesistate to throw in recent jazz stuff, I'm curious to see if there's something behind the heritage of Davis, Coltrane and stuff. (I liked the Hiromi trio a lot these past years but I don't know where to dig for more fresh jazz-inspired stuff, more ambitious stuff than lounge or "the same old stuff")
Mic check
i hate jazz

Is it just another overpriced, over-hyped meme instrument, or is it really only way to go if you want a bass with truly god-tier tone?
Was there a reason why Squire, Burton, etc all played it, or is its reputation all a bunch of BS.
I'm really coveting one lately, but I'm wondering what people here have to say about it.
I just want one because of FLCL
>>68286561
it's a true patrician bass, along with hofner
>>68286583
OP here. I'm craving an electric bass as a way of getting back into playing, and I don't want to buy a piece of crap. That said, I also have exactly zero interest in getting a Fender since their basses just seem so boringly decent and I'd rather spend the cash on something with a little flair.
Are there any other good alternatives out there?
find a flaw
>protip: you can't
I hate replying to waifu threads, but I must say you are absolutely correct.

I saw two guys having this discussion today:
One said that metal as a whole is a subgenre of rock music, so it should be considered rock. The other one said that while it is true that metal took a lot of influence of rock music, it's a completely different thing, that it's just metal, not rock.
I hate this kind of discussion but I can't stop thinking about it now. Who do you think was right?
Pic unrelated, Rob Halford is a fag, but a cool fag.
>>68286493
While it's a meritorious discussion I think you'll find this resource might settle the dispute for you.
