Damn...
This is honestly better than Loveless
honestly they're both shit
Nah. Contrarian opinion, but Sonic Youth have always seemed like edgy tween bullshit to me. Loveless has always struck a chord with me, and I'm not sure why.
>>69124059
I love both, but I feel like there's more texture on Daydream Nation than on Loveless
What's so great about this?
Repetitive, annoying, minute long tracks that leave no lasting impression.
>set industry standard fro almost all sample-based hip hop.

This is photoshopped. He probably hates it anyway though because most artists hate their early work.

idkfam.
Blank Space had a pretty catchy hook but i'm not into the whole waifu thing.
Massively overrated by the poptimist crowd. A solid album with fairly strong singles but not the masterpiece of the genre that it's often hailed as.
>>69122664
Nor am I, but I still like the album. It's nothing special, just pretty good with some pretty good songs
>half baked ideas
>literal filler
>rife with recording errors and mistakes
>paul at his worst since Rubber Soul with the lone exception of Helter Skelter
How did they get away with making this album and people actually liking it? Could they honestly have released anything and people would like it?
It's not their fault that you're too dense to understand it.
only its historical context makes it valuable nowadays.
>Paul at his worst
>mother nature's sun, blackbird, Martha my dear, I will, back in the ussr,
Assuming that a strong cadence is what fuels modern pop music, why do we scarcely see tritone substitution in modern music? Considering how close the notes in substituted chord are to the I (nearly all changes are by a semitone), one would assume that this, being the strongest of any cadence I have seen, would be more popular. Thoughts?
>>69122443
>why do we scarcely see tritone substitution in modern music?
Pop musicians don't use it because they don't really have a basic grasp on music theory.
Modern composers don't use it because functional harmony has been dead in everything but film scores for years.

fpbp
>strongest of any cadence I have seen
how is it stronger than playing the G7? sure, it's more interesting and varied maybe, but the pull back to the I with the G7 seems stronger to me
that tritone from F -> B really pulls to the I
Discuss.
possibly op... possibly
>>69122071
I was going to call you an dumb faggot OP, but I don't remember any band that did what SY did on this album or even any band that sounds like them.
I mean, Loveless is a masterpiece of guitar music, but there's a lot of shoegaze that souns like it. But there's nothing that sounds like SY, mainly DN.
How so?
You have made the claim yet leave it on me to answer, preposterous!
Very well. Even though the use of dissonance and noise as a central part of your guitar playing was not entirely new, few albums at this time used that to create such awe inspiring music like on Daydream Nation. I'm having a hard time thinking of a technique, that came afterwords, that has had more influence on guitar playing then the ones displayed on this record.
What is some music?
