To y'all who are into Aphex Twins. What do you like about the music? I am trying to get into it but don't really get the point. What makes him so great?
>>69180802
there's not much to get, it's just good. the driving ambiance with his earlier stuff is pretty, and he's creative with drums too.
there's a huge variety with his career, his discography is pretty intimidating. i'm sure you'll find something you like from him
>>69180852
i really liked the song Ageispolis, where do I go from here?
>>69180802
It's Aphex Twin. I like the lush atmospheres and vibes I get from his tracks.

Almost all post-hardcore albums past the 2000s are not worth your time except for a very select few. This is not one of those few.
been listening to this on and off for a few weeks and its definitely growing on me. my question is, are his other releases worth a listen or is this his best work?
XXX > that > Old > The Hybrid
All worth a listen
>>69180588
dubs confirm this
it's his best by far, but his others are still worth a listen

Adam Clayton, U2 bassist
Does he have the largest success/talent deficit of all time?
i know a guy who did sound for a U2 show, and he says they barely play their instruments live

Seems like a good candidate.

Why do so called "patricians" (fuck that word) value the avant garde over more traditional and popular forms of music? Why do they also seem to cling on to the same albums that get posted by other "cultured" people here? Take that machine gun brotzmann album for instance. You do know he's produced a fuckton of other music, right? With a swarm of other musicians no less? Here's my guess: they like this music simply for their meme status on this board and RYM. They have no care for more popular music because it can only bring them enjoyment. Anything even remotely left in the margins will not bring them status. It has no value to them because they do not enjoy music for musics sake. Ironically the "higher forms" (not to say the avant garde isn't extremely worthwhile and compelling, it is) is not at all explored by these folk. They simply have no interest in it. This is most likely because they cannot absorb it's actual content. They are the "plebs" they hate so much, as they can only showcase all the novel, important albums they are supposed to like.
>>69179425
>caring what patricians think
You are the true definition of a plebian. Post again once you've had a daily dose of nootropics.
>>69179481
That's the thing, the people here are not "patricians". They are plebs.
>>69179531
you fell for the patrician/pleb dichotomy meme
it doesn't exist, u'r the retard
Post your favs /mu/
