White people CAN rap, for example: Slug, Eyedea, Doseone, Lil Ugly Mane, and even early Eminem.

lmao
can we have a lo-fi thread? slowcore, folk, whatever as long as it's comfy
starting with this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADhj0x24o14
mother fucker, that's slowcore.
>>69282004
Are you going to deny that it's lo fi? Doesn't the term describe production quality/methods instead of a specific playing style?
>>69282145
No. They're live recordings. Idiot. Not lo-fi.
Each musical genre has the capability of accurately portraying every emotion in a meaningful way.
Agree or disagree?
>>69281550
If that was true there would be no genres.
disagree

50s Rock & Roll- Why do you love/hate it?
>>69281273
I think it's spooky how quickly music becomes irrelevant. None of the pop music made in the last eighty years has any lasting power, no one's going to be listening to Jay Z by like 2025. By 2035 it'll be as if Jay Z didn't even exist.
The way people can become icons, and music can be such a big deal and then just disappear into nothingness scares me.
I like the song 'Suspicious Eyes'
They used guitars instead of shitty Ableton wubwub #xyz. The lyrics were fun and weren't disgusting degenerate shit. It had a real energy do it, something pop music nowadays doesn't.
It just feels more earnest overall.
>Love the good music r&r all the time
>Hate that it was the black folks music first and all top dogs are middle class poor now and elvis family never has to work a day in their life
So yea sampling in rap music makes since now

Has there ever been a band that progressed so much during their career? The Beatles started by writing simply catchy love pop songs like Please Please Me and Love Me Do and were writing experimental pieces like Tomorrow Never Knows and A Day in the Life in a span of 4 years.
>>69280989
Paul kept on getting better after the Beatles too. John regressed and George stagnated.
>>69280989
I would argue David Bowie would qualify.
I'm not saying he's better or worse but in his first 4 years of music he released 3 great (and 1 decent) albums with vastly different styles.
>Debut: Baroque and Novelty
>Space Oddity: Psychedelic and Folk
>MWSTW: Metal
>Hunky Dory: Orchestral glam rock
i've been coming to /mu/ since 07 and none of you bustas ever told me how legit rick james is. im listening to his first album on spotify now and its fantastic!
anyone else here familiar with his discography or funk in general? sly and the family stone is classic /mu/core and was my first taste of funk. i discovered prince after his death and i've listened to a lot of p-funk after i got through all the prince records i wanted to hear.
if you've been interested in but have never explored the genre i highly recommend it. if you have an interest in jimi hendrix/motown/progressive rock/frank zappa you will love funk. im telling you senpai.
I like funk...
>>69280968
got any favorites? we gotta spread the word, the genre deserves more recognition on /mu/.
i've listened to just about every funkadelic album on spotify and i think this one is my favorite. its such a solid double album.
>>69281034
Unfortunately /mu/ has a weird relationship with funk where the majority seems to despise it. Since the majority of /mu/ instantly sees it as shit (even though they probably know fuck all about it) it doesn't really get a fair chance on here.
But if you really liked Rick James I'd recommend moving onto Prince's early work. I can also recommend Funkadelic, War, George Clinton, Isaac Hayes, Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown, and Bootsy Collins.
Besides mariachi, why no good music here?
