What does /mu/ think of Buckethead?
I saw him live back in June, he was pretty good

A friend of mine turned me on to him a few months back, everything I've heard from him I've loved but there's so much music it got overwhelming and I kinda just moved on
>>
as a person into buckethead, nut much of /mu/ is. the subreddit and proboards are pretty active though
>>

he does have like way too many albums, and if you listen to enough of them/for long enough, most of the good songs start to sound the same

over the last three or four years he stopped touring and started recording like crazy and released a mini album every few weeks, which ended up being like almost two hundred albums, called pikes, over the course of a year or two

I've only listened to a handful of the pikes, most of the ones I've heard are pretty good, but bucket does a lot of like guitar seizure shit where he's playing so fast that it just sounds like incoherent bs. a lot of his songs have that

Either way, if you're interested, I would recommend the albums Giant Robot, Elephant Man's Alarm Clock, and pikes Project Little Man, Coupon, Look Up There, and Hold Me Forever

what does nu mean?

Numan went from being one of the greatest synthpop artists to being a decent, respectable industrial rock artist. Not a bad way to be. And if the "alt right" retards don't like him, that only says good things about him.

Always thought it was a trophy or a vase.

Also that picture really gives a lot of insight into people like Chad Kroeger. Anytime someone takes a pic he has to throw up the ol' devil horns because he doesn't know what else to do. Someone putting a vase on their head was the funniest fucking thing he had ever seen, so funny that every time he sees that pic he laughs and laughs and had to write a song about it. It's kind of endearing how retarded people like that are.

Does Beyonce actually make good music?

Let me rephrase that: Does Beyonce actually make the spectacular, genre-defying, music of the year that every critic claims she does or will I just be wasting my time?

Well first off you need to be corrected on a misconception because no critic claims she makes genre-defying music in the first place

Post weird behaviors you have involving music, I'll start

>hear amazing song on a radio program
>refuse to listen to the rest of the band's catalog out of fear that it won't live up to that one song

This has gotten bad enough that if the first song on an album is amazing, I won't listen to the rest of it.

I'm sure I'm missing out on a lot, but I don't know how to fix the problem.

I only "listen" to 3 artists.

Daft Punk
System of a down
Dizzee Rascal

While I listen to other music, this is the only music that is always on my iPod.

LOL you're so witty OP!

Because by posting a picture of Beyonce when you ask that, you imply she plays rock music. But she doesn't play rock music! In fact, that's not her genre at all! She's an R&B singer!

Boy, I sure did have a laugh over this one. You sure are a funny person, OP!

Anyway of doing this precisely so that I can know where to cut the tape? Any tips on making great loops?

...tape decks are still massively popular for home recording.

The majority of my friends who make music have one. Shit, I have one and use it weekly - daily.

because there arent many pleasant male people out there. my best guy friend ever likes Taylor Swift (but he was also in a youth senate program and theres a group picture of him feet away from obama)

puzzlingly, considering his output of shows and stuff, hes actually funny. and hes a nice guy. could be a lot worse.

think about how the the Mumford and Sons guy is married to Carey Mulligan.

The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as “the greatest or most significant or most influential” rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

Why are there age limits? why is it illegal to marry a 12-year old? Helen of Troy was 12. Juliet and Cleopatra were still teenagers when they became famous. Most heroines of classic novels and poems were underage by today's laws. Thomas Edison married a 16-year-old. Medical studies show that the best age for a woman to have children is between 15 and 25 (lowest chances of miscarriage, of birth defects and, last but not least, of the woman dying while giving birth); while the worst age is after the mid 30s. And the younger you are, the more likely you are to cement a real friendship with your children; the older you are, the more likely that the "generational gap" will hurt your children's psychology. Therefore it is much more natural to have a child at 16 than at 40. In countless countries of the world women have their first child at a very young age, and stop having children at a relatively young age. Nonetheless, in the USA it is illegal to have sex before 18 (but, note, only if the partner is over 18, which is like saying that it is ok to rob a bank if you are a banker), while it is perfectly legal to get pregnant at 40 or (thanks to medical progress) even at 70.

"Founded by EMI Records in the late 1980s, Blur were aone hit wonder boyband who made guitar-based teen-pop music. In 1990, their label had them put out an album to jump on the Madchester sound popularized by the Stone Roses and Happy Mondays, but their album was a failure, critically and commercially. Many music lovers were angry that such pretenders had invaded the scene and hoped they would soon fade into obscurity, but this unfortunately was not the case. When the Madchester scene died after Oasis invented Britpop, Blur quickly hopped on the Britpop bandwagon and released the disco/ EDM Britpop "anthem" (in the words of the band, anyway) "Girls and Boys". A song advocating sex with underage children (based on lead singer Damon's real life experiences), it quickly shot them to the top of the charts. But then when Oasis took over England, musically and culturally, Blur were rightly regarded by almost everyone in the UK as "hacks" and deemed "uncool". So, in an effort to ride the dying wave of grunge, their record label advised them to rip off "Smells Like Teen Spirit", a move that made them briefly popular in America (as Oasis' popularity there was rapidly reclining). After more decline in popularity, they tried to rip off Radiohead, but this yielded no success. After side project Gorillaz got famous in America via song "Feel Good Inc." (a rip off of U2's just as vapid "Staring at the Sun"), Blur tried to incorporate Gorillaz' sound into their music, which failed even worse. They decided that they had earned enough money between 1994-1996, that they could quit and be comfortable for the rest of their lives and appea on gameshows, be a politician, or a farmer, etc. After reuniting for their 20th Anniversary in 2009 and again in 2012 for no real reason ($$$), Blur (and Gorillaz) were, to the cheers of music lovers everywhere, finally laid to rest late last year (as confirmed by the bands' singer Damon in an interview). The End and Thank God."
