Do you guys realise how embarrassing this board is? Everyone here acts elitist as fuck, but on the whole everyone's taste is on par with Reddit and the level of musical knowledge on here is ridiculously poor. Compare with an actual intellectual board such as /lit/, for example, and it's barely recognisable as the same website.
/mu/ has been on a steady decline since 2010.
Nah, I don't by give two shits what people say about the music I like.
This post is the most elitist thing I've read all day desu

Ohok. I got itnow.
Ok here's another gem nobody ever talks about.
How come we live in a age of having so much possibility for new music.
Yet very few groundbreaking albums exist now in the 21st century?
>>69422193
Well that would be terrible. The point I'm making is that people can't feed people garbage if people just sit down and accept it. At what point do you say "Hey, this is bullshit, I'm not gunna just let anyone do whatever they want to me". Hitler, for example, had to be voted into office. People had to generally accept him for him to gain power. The same can be said for anything. All it takes for evil to win is good men do nothing. I'm sick of the bullshit in the world and if given the choice of eating shit for my whole life or at least enjoying the moments I have I choose the later. I'm not violent. I'm not supporting a revolution. I just want people to take care of one another. I just want to see kids go to school, and the earth not to melt, and to have 2.5 kids and a picket fence and all that. That's what everyone wants deep down I know it. And people have just given up. Everyone I know it seems like they've just given up. Not me! I'm not that stupid. If I am, well, maybe I was just the only smart one.

Either the Second Barbara Streisand Album or John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman.
What do you guys think of music?
Music
i dont like it
nothing of worth has been made past 1190
Many websites I actually trust have been naming this AOTY. Is it even close to being that good (esp. when albums like Blackstar came out this year)
>>69421794
If you like contemporary pop and R&B then yeah, probably. Beyoncé has a fantastic voice and the production is good

Which other artists/musicians deserve a nobel prize?
>>69421501

>Nobel Prize for Rape
I just thought of a lot of connections between the two groups.
Now I'm not comparing this in terms of quality, more in terms of impact/similarity in progression over the years.
>Both are pop artists from England
>Both started with a simple sound that is very influenced by that era (alt rock - Radiohead, Rock N Roll - The Beatles).
>Both had a transitional phase towards new genres (More Electronic Oriented with Kid A and The King of Limbs | More Psychedelic Rock oriented with Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour)
>Both artists *mostly* consisted of the same musicians
>Both artists changed their appearance as years went by to what was more trendy at the time
(Even both Paul and Thom grew their hair long towards the latter end of their careers)
>Both artists most of their discography is celebrated, with exceptions, which are disregarded by many fans (both debuts - Please Please Me and Pablo Honey, Let it Be (which was recorded before Abbey Road and The King of Limbs).
>Both were from the most popular bands of their eras
>Both have a relatively close male-female ratio of fan base.
I think with the enormous (and some might say overrated) following of both groups in their times, you can see a lot of similarities.
So now comes the ultimate question, will Radiohead be remembered/celebrated in 30~40 years the same way The Beatles are now?
I like a few albums, I'm not a big fan, but I think this is a point worth of discussion.
