When this album was released, like many Bowie fans, I was disappointed his sound hadn't much evolved since Reality. It's like Bowie took a decade-long break from recording and returned where he'd left off. I listened to the record a few times, dug a few songs, and put it away until Blackstar and Bowie's death.

What I found upon reassessing the album is that not only is it a damn fine album, the issue I had was not with the songs themselves but with the order in which they appear. I reshuffled the songs in a manner that made the themes of the album flow, edited out a couple of duds, and gave the album itself a new name. If I had proper photoshopping skills, I'd also attach new artwork.

Here's what I came up with as my alternate take on The Next Day, new name and all:

Holy shit, why is most of this album so bad?

I've been listening to the beach boys in chronological order. And up until this album, everything was mostly going up hill.

This was posted in a really big local music group, and it looks reeaally sketchy to me. Can anyone spot anything in this that might prove that it's fake? maybe some obvious photoshop techniques used or something?

It really sucks if this is a real thing that happened, but with the way he said "no excuses" and his explanation for how it happened (I'll post that too), it really looks suspicious.

Why does everyone on /mu/ like this hack so much? He doesn't know shit about music. And don't say "it's just a meme like Scaruffi and Pitchfork and we don't actually care" because he single handedly ruined the reputations of Odd Future, Zomby, and Whirr on this board, and at the same time started the Death Grips meme. He is the one reviewer whose opinions you morons actually DO care about for some reason.
