Sup /Mu/ I want to know if anyone could give me advice on starting a studio album and what things I should do so go about such a thing.

you need a couple of things:

>instrument
I like guitar personally but it can also be piano or banjo. NOT DRUMS. Drums have their place and purpose, but studio albums is not it. If you are desperate for some rhythmical content just use your imagination and record yourself banging on some stuff with HB pencils. They must be HB by the way. Speaking of recording:

>microphone
Get yourself one of those fancy laptops with built-in microhopnes and you're good to go. Just point it at whatever you want to record and it will record it! NEAT, aye? I like them.

>recording software
I personally reccommend Audacity because it's really easy to use and has a lot of useful plugins, including equaliser and built-in karaoke so you can karaokeise your own songs! Great stuff. It can also record in layers so you can record yourself singing, playing and banging the table and not have to do it at the same time, but later artificially make it sound like you did play them at the same time. Alternatively get a band so you can play in unison (that means together), you will have less work...

>mixing
You will have to adjust the volume and timbre of your recordings so that they sound good when played against each other. I reccommend trying to mix so that the output volume is close to +6dB (for that added OOMPH, you know). Don't be afraid of digital distortion, overdriven music due to excessive gain sounds moist af. Also - bandpass filter (a filter which only puts through sounds betweeen certain frequencies) used to cut out everything from 0 Hz (A STANDING SOUND WAVE, VERY DANGEROUS TO LISTENING EQUIPMENT, WATCH OUT FOR IT!) to 4kHz and then from 6kHz to infinity.

>bandcamp
you will need to publish your work. Bandcamp is nice for that. You can also try putting your music online.

hope you will find it useful. :)

And I'm trying to start a rap album with some rock aspects. I've been using my guitar over some popular beats, and in my opinion they sound alot better.

>People typically have trouble affiliating the band to a specific genre to describe them, since they bridge so many. However, many fans (and themselves to a degree) have labeled their genre as "Schizophrenic pop" (also known as Schizoid pop), a technically unofficial subgenre of pop.

>tfw Bob Dylan will probably be remembered as only a simple folk singer, and Frank Zappa as a silly comedian

Anyone have any experience with this model? I'm gonna buy one, and have been reading different things about how you cannot upgrade the cartridge–info from Sony's homepage. But various YouTube reviewers said you can change the MM cartridge, and I am gonna buy an Ortofon 2M Blue, also a cork mat and a record clamp.

I will be buying mostly 180g LP's, artists I am more close to listen are, and will buy include:

>Korn (from self-titled to Issues, Music On Vinyl re-issues)
>Metallica (Ride the Lightning, ... And Justice for All, and maybe Master of Puppets, Blackened and 4 disc 45 rpm's)
>Nine Inch Nails (all, if possible, pre-orders from official store, reissues with vinyl in mind)
>Anna Calvi (self-titled and One Breath)
>Pantera (from Cowboys to Reinventing, 180g re-issues)
>The Last Shadow Puppets

LP's I cannot find online, hoping anyone knows where to get ahold of
>Low - Happiness EP (really hoping it isn't just a digital release)
Also blues music, like Lightnin' Hopkins and open to other various artists. Artists mentioned just in case if you should be wondering what kind of music I have in mind when wanting to change the cartridge.

TL;DR – any anon's have experience with Sony PS-HX500 and know if it's upgradable, and perhaps just shitpost about music mentioned.

My family has a ton of LP I intent to rip, and the 24 bit ripping option is the most appealing, if I buy a different model, I might as well just buy CD's
>>
Buy a Pro-Ject instead

I almost bought that Sony but got a Debut Carbon instead and couldn't be happier with it. Note that the Pro-ject does require a phono pre-amp though if your existing amp doesn't have one built in.
