Over the past couple months a lot of our favorite websites for obtaining music have been shut down. Around 11 months ago I had the idea of starting another alternative private platform completely based around the general perspective that what.cd had offered us for numerous years.
The idea only really came back to life in November of 2016 when the website what.cd shut down. Why I mention this? During the months before November 2016 I had previously created a couple automated scripts which would gather all of the information that what.cd offered publicly, and store that information into a database. This process went every 1 and a half minute for almost 6 months.
This means that all the data which was offered publicly on what.cd in terms of actual projects, songs, albums, you name it I have it stored in an alternative database. The only issue with this project is that I don't have user data or any of that stored so alternatively there would be no means of privately obtaining all of the users which used what.cd for as long as they did.
I have completely replicated every element that what.cd had offered in terms of design and functionality. I'm just wondering /mu/ would this be worth releasing?
Please if you're going to reply (maybe nobody will who knows) provide me with a valid reason for WHY or WHY NOT, instead of just a dulled down response.
With websites like this being gone it really hurts the freedom feeling we have left on the internet, it feels like everything we do is constantly being restricted.

you know that PTH and APL exist?
>>70388414
They don't provide me really with the same feel.
I get very very sus vibes when I view PTH, but maybe that's just me.
>>70388542
>the same feel
That's vague and a bit bullshit. I'm on Apl and it has every major feature that w.cd had.
You'd be better off working with Apl and sharing this information with them, rather than starting your own tracker with it's own community. What would be the point other than vanity?

I really like Brian Gibson.
What happens when you ask /mu/ to cover the discography of The Beatles?
This is gonna be a mammoth project... but let's to try it. Roll for a track and then proceed to make your own cover. Interpret the song any way you wish; a faithful adaptation or a total rearrangement. Hopefully we get quite a lot of vocals. Will post the finished album on bandcamp.
This could take quite a long time, so be patient and keep bumping.
MAKE SURE you email your completed track to [email protected] so that I can organise and compile this album a lot more easily. It may get ignored if you don't email it. Any file format is okay but wav is preferable. I can convert it if you can't be arsed, though.

what.cd had 2.7 million well seeded torrents when it went down
PtH has 700k and maybe 50-60% of those are actually seeded

Why dont you like her /mu/?
She's alright but imo it doesn't age well after you've listened a few times to her work. On top of that some of the lyrics aren't that great. Best example is the lyrics in Embody from Next Thing album. It's cute, though, I'll give her that. I really like the Art School music video, though.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6cZFxFJl0E
By the way, I think theneedledrop dislikes this girl so bad he refused to talk about her in any way possible, so maybe that's why /mu/ probably doesn't find her all that interesting.
>>70384506
why does he hate her
>>70384549
there's reasons enough to hate her. she makes trash music and is only known via nepotism.

I was thinking about buying these, they look comfy as hell and aren't 10 million dollars
I'm obsessed with Aphex Twin and people that make very original music (each song/album is distinctly different from the last)
can you recommend me similar artists/albums of any genre?
