Nobody actually likes pop music. It's on the billboards because executives paid for it to be there.

>Do you like pop music?
Does /mu/ like death metal?

Anyone else use Apple earbuds and nothing else?
/poorfag/ thread, I guess.
I do; i like that I can just replace them if they stop working. I don't like the earwax that builds up in the groove
>>70371246
For earbuds they're really not bad. Key part being "for earbuds" insofar as all ear buds are a compromise.
>>70371246
I used to but then o realized it how trash they were quality wise even if they're excellent on the go earbuds. Do yourself a favor and just save up for a $150-200 pair that you won't need to replace for years
Hey /mu/, newfag here.
This is probably a question that gets asked here constantly, but whats the best way I can begin to start expanding my horizons in music?
Frankly I'm getting tired of hearing the same stuff thats slowly trickled into my music lists every so often, only problem is I don't know where to start.
Any ideas?
Pic unrelated.
Read the sticky you shitlord.
>>70371030
What do you listen to?
>>70371103
I'm pretty much open to anything, I'm one of those retards that has smooth jazz and heavy metal in the same playlist even though that's a bad thing and I probably want to focus on changing that most.
Whats the next big music revolution?
Corey motherfucking Feldman

How the fuck is anyone supposed to know the answer to that?

>The Metal.
What happened? The cookie monster vocals throughout, the blastbeats, the lack of harmony/melody, skinny & pale/obese middle-class white kids are prevalent in a once proud genre. Notice me making criticisms with little or no depth? Sure, but the point remains:
No one else cringes listening to Black Metal? The image, the lack of distinction. Y'know, I actually enjoy Bathory, Possessed... Along with the 'usuals;' Burzum, Darkthrone, etc, but you must understand, in a genre set on being evil, brutal and whatnot... One may cringe, where the 'evil' vocals sound as such to you, the ethos of the whole genre is not 'The Metal' as much as you'd like to think so.
80's Thrash was the last incarnation of legit badass, brutal, evil... All those words you love using describing the latest 'The Metal' apply to Thrash... A genre which has been polluted, i'm not about to defend the redundant shit that has been released the last few years.
Anyways, here, some *ahem* tr00 Metal:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjeEbm7kk-o
Notice the aura, the legit badass performance, genuine humble guys who don't need to hide behind 'evil' vocals and facepaint, and can revamp their studio songs live.
Oh, Death metal gets it, but the genre produces only a select few gems, with a lot being kiddie Metal. Black metal has atmosphere, I enjoy a select few, but my criticisms are valid.
tl;dr: God forbid I wish to not cringe listening to 'The Metal.' Most 'core' punk influenced bands with an emphasis on 'crust' produce legit Metal, Gorgoroth do not.
black metal is the purest form of metal

>skinny & pale/obese middle-class white kids are prevalent in a once proud genre
literally no idea what the fuck you're trying to say m8
I just got into jazz and I love the shit out of this and Mellow Dream. Where do I go from here? What genre of jazz is this called?
>>70370051
>Where do I go from here?
Bill Evans
>What genre of jazz is this called?
Watered down Bill Evans
>>70370076
Thanks anon, I'll start with Undercurrent. Is that a good first album of his? What else do you recommend?
>>70370279
Village Vanguard recordings
Portrait in Jazz
How My Heart Sings
probably better entry points
Perfect albums.

better than The Family Jewels
ITT: Albums or artists that you unfairly dismissed at first, but now in retrospect you think are really pretty good, or at least not nearly as bad as you originally thought.
Im pretty sure the only reason I hated this album on release was that I heard people calling it "hipster music", and at one point in time I thought being a hipster was the worst thing you could possibly be.
Vampire Weekend were definitely the textbook definition of college hipster
But yeah they were still good (are they even still together?)
Contra is definitely a quality album, if overhyped and college-y. I think one of their guitarists quit to pursue solo projects, but supposedly they'll have a new album out some time this year.
pretty much majority of my library were once artists i hated but now like
Do you guys like The Doors? What's your favorite album?
Never listened to them for some reason outside of a couple of tracks here and there until recently, and they're pretty good.
the album The Doors was probably their best. really good psychedelic vibes
they're ok but very samey
i doubt most of /mu/ likes them
best album is the one with when the music's over, i don't really remember, i'm not a classic rock faggot anymore
Debut album is great
L.A. Woman is great too except I could go without King Snake
ITT: Which album is the best?
blonde > idls > channel orange = doris > earl = cherry bomb >>>> the rest
>>70369863
OP: Bastard > Earl > Doris > IDLS > Blonde > Channel Orange > Wolf > Cherry Bomb > Goblin (really shit album)
Yet to listen to nostalgia ultra.
>>70369913
bastard isnt THAT bad
thoughts on PJ Harvey?
>>70369829
One (1) good album and a whole bunch of mediocre ones
>>70369829
>translation: "Please /mu/, tell me if I am supposed to like [artist] or not. While I have an opinion on [artist], I would like to make sure it's in agreement with the rest of /mu/"

Clearly a fine performer. Not a great songwriter. If she hadn't been hot she'd have wound up harnessed to some band as a vocalist with a chance of true greatness.
Why does Canada have all the cute musicians?
Name one.
