how come this album has a parental advisory sticker on it? it wasn't released on a major label
>>70770008
Do you seriously need to ask? THE EDGE!
They tried to appeal to scene kids even more by making it look more "hardcore".
>>70770065
But all that meant is that their parents wouldn't let them listen to it
>>70770090
Just because their parents wouldn't "let" them doesn't mean they couldn't sneak about. I watched nearly every movie, played every game, etc. that my parents told me not to as a kid.
Any good jazz out so far this year?
>>70770004
Not if that's your idea of good jazz.
>>70770032
and what if it's not?

The weirdest part about this is that he said that people who only play their own songs are boring
>>70769652
Well he was still not wrong then.
I'm super new to music production. I set everything up a month ago. I'm using Ableton Live 9 Suite and Max. I chose the Push 2 as my first piece of hardware. I have a basic grasp of Ableton from watching YouTube videos. I haven't done anything in Max yet. I'm still exploring the capabilities of the Push 2 but can make clips/loops. I get how record a bit, change the loop, and then keep recording. I get how to layer tracks and add different things at different parts to make a song. For someone who didn't even have computer access for a few years and never had the privilege to play an instrument or study music, my learning is off to a good start. I have a list of books I'm going to buy and online classes I will take. My goal for tonight is to learn how to shape my sounds though. For example... I don't like any of the drum kits I load on the Push 2. My friend said something about how I could edit samples to make my own drum kit. I could also record myself playing various chords and make loops with them but... I don't know how to explain... I'd like to know what I could change and how. I could list some of my favorite artists but basically their noises sound more interesting and well rounded than any of the noises I am using. It might be time to graduate to VST/plugins but it will take a couple of months to save money for them. (Is that basically my issue? I need to start using those?) What can I do with what I have now? With both chords and samples. Sorry if this is too annoying or vague. I really should just utilize the books and classes instead of asking the internet to spoonfeed me but here I am. Any advice is appreciated.
Honestly learning this stuff is kind of like programming, you're kinda wasting your time reading books, you need to just get in there and fuck around as much as possible, you'll learn much more that way even though it might seem random. Just accept that it might take a few months

You just basically need to make music that makes you feel THE PUMP.
>>70769597
most drum samples will need layering to give them more punch or shine, layer multiple different drum samples over each other, cutting out highs on one, lows on the other, see what works and sounds good
figure out how to pan parts of your drum kit for more dynamic sounding beats, play around with movement like letting a subtle background hat move from left to right during one section as a little detail for example
learn EQing and learn to use it subtly to enhance the sounds of your audio tracks
if you're not using any vst plugins right now you're wasting the potential of your DAW
There are two (2) albums that are good on this chart. Can /mu/ name them?

Musik Von Harmonia is one of the greatest albums of all time.
Deluxe is an above-average krautrock album.
Musik is a pivotal moment in the history of electronic music. Far ahead of its time.
Deluxe is a good follow up.
I like music with autistic screaming.
Post some, please.
