What is every 10/10 pre-1990
>>70914940
what changed in the year 1990?
>hate reddit's absolute plebness "DAE LIKE 1D" bullshit
>hate /mu/'s "the only real music is mumbling over lazy acoustic strumming that p4k reviews" bullshit
>hate last.fm's/RYM's/Pandora's/Youtube's/Spotify's complete ineptidute at recommending me anything
I just wanna find music that clicks with me. I don't care about what other people like, I don't care if it's popular or not, I just wanna find the music that makes me happy, no matter what it is.
Where do I go to find music that is fresh and new, but also just like the music I already enjoy?
>>70914634
What? /mu/ hates p4k to the point of almost just being outright contrarian, you must be new here. Lurk some more, I know that's a meme response but you'll be able to find loads of new stuff here if you can sift through the /pol/, memes, and downright autism that's just inherent to 4chan unfortunately.

I've been here since 2012, it's been nothing but American Football, Beach Fossils, Radioheadband Real Estate for years. There's the occasional John Coltrane, Kanye, MF Doom and Death Grips, and a K-Pop thread I never enter, but that's really been about 95% of the threads here for the last 4 years. It's mostly all so dreary, and I have tried to love it but for the most part I just can't. I'm not saying music has to be happy, or even that I necessarily want happy music (Akira Yamaoka's Betrayal is something I can put on repeat for days), I just feel nothing for 90% of the music discussed here, and I have tried for four years to do so.

Thanks familia
Do you guys think Young Thug will go down as one of the best rappers of all time? Even if you don't like him you have to admit he's had a huge influence and put trap on the map.
>>70914587
He'll go down more as a 50 Cent.
Hugely successful and popular for a time but not really considered one of 'the best'. He's more just...a joke.
And that's not meant as an insult in Thug's case, most of his fans say his music 'isn't serious' and is more just for dancing and parties. And there's not a PROBLEM with that, just don't expect to be called 'one of the greatest' when you make that kind of music.
>>70914587
who exactly has he influenced
>rap
>tfw want to start free mprovisation collective
>no friends
Learn to do some coding then. If you can't get other musicians, MAKE other musicians. You can also make them into however you personally would want them to play/sound as well.
Orrrrrrrr, you can just try to reach out and make friends, which might be far easier depending on where you live even if you're mad asocial.
>nobody who likes what I live
>see guy wearing throbbing gristle shirt
>go up to him and say I like your shirt tg is great enthuisastically
>he responds "uh yeah" and walks away
Why are people so mean? I just want to start a band
>>70914687

I'm looking for some good vaporwave that doesn't sound like shit. Any recommendations?

i'm sure a lot of great political discussion is bound to come forth from this dispute tbqh
/mu/ vs /pol/ isn't dying out soon I'd assume.
PJW cited fucking HOPSIN as being good. If that doesn't discredit him, what will?
Is there any type of music that you automatically disregard completely? For me it's any type of hip hop, rap, dank street trap shit. When I look for new music my mind automatically blocks out and filters anything that might be of that related to that. When I play a song and I hear anything rapping or a dank gorilla beats I immediately trash it

all neutered indie rock that is heavily marketed by internet tastemakers
metal
Any avant-garde music. Quite distateful how Neo-Marxists push their agendas through post mordenism.
Thoughts on Tori Amos?

I used to know a girl that looked exactly like her, but I was too much of a pussy to ask her out.
Love her. Big fan. Boys for Pele is a stone-cold classic. So is Little Earthquakes. So is Under the Pink. She's the inspiration for Delirium from The Sandman comics, and her lyrics are quoted throughout the series.
She was also the inspiration for this shit, lol:

Can you give me a quick rundown on this band?
they are good
SHOUT
>synthpop
>inspired by Carl Jung
>most of their stuff references psychoanalysis in some form
>Songs from the Big Chair
>Tears for Fears
>Shout
>all references to psychoanalysis
>most of their current fans are Donnie Darko faggots who also love Danny Elfman too much
>they're good in spite of this
hey you pretentious faggots.
I need something new to listen to. I've been in a rut with the same stuff for the past like 6 months.
Cycling between Mac Demarco, Atlas, Synthwave shit, Tallest Man on Earth, Antlers and Tame Impala.
What should I listen to next.
Viper the Rapper is the only artist worth listening to
>>70913547
you should try listening to good music
Viper, Lil B, Poon Patrol, Corey Feldman, Twenty One Pilots, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Jason Aldean, Linkin Park, Melanie Martinez, Gorillaz, Grimes
>In an interview featured on the November 2000 issue of Q Magazine, when asked what they're favorite bands of all time were, the members of MUSE replied as following:
>Matt: Primus, Nirvana, Jeff Buckley, Deftones, Rage Against The Machine.
>Dom: Limp bizkit, Radiohead, Pavement, dEUS, Smashing Pumpkins.
>Chris: Helmet, Korn, Deftones, The Beach Boys, Nirvana.
yikes! Is this the reason why they could never be as good as Radiohead?
this is cringey.
first off, if the first thing that came to mind was primus, please kill self, and then to be influenced by jeff buckley is to pretend like he's not influenced by thom yorke which he obviously is and the other dude straight up stabs him in the back and says limp bizkit, RADIOHEAD... just to b fucking dick. lol
>>70913525
>Dom: Limp bizkit
Damn, Dom has some fine ass taste
>Matt not listing Queen or Radiohead, his two obvious influences
wew lad
now that the dust has settled, can we all agree this is actually really good
this album got me into music and it's very nostalgic for me so yeah ,it's really good
cementeries of london and 42 are my favorites
>>70913352
Mylo Xyloto is better. Got me through some tough times.
Joe Satriani's worst LP imo
Pic related is better than Atrocity Exhibition in every conceivable way.
>no bars except on a couple tracks
>stupid time wasting spoken word sections
>amateur, messy, first-time-DAW user tier transitions on most of the tracks
>actually copy pasting everyone else instead of doing something unique
>rerelease record multiple times because of how much of a mess it is
Here's your (You)
