>posts on /mu/ once
So I'm writing an article for my school newspaper about harsh noise since I've run out of ideas for things to write about, I've been listening to harsh noise for a couple weeks now, so I have a feel for it, I have the basics down like explaining noise music is and a semi-accurate description of how it sounds, but I need more and I came here for help because I know how informative you people are, how do you guys listen to harsh noise or noise music in general? Did it have an effect towards your mindset? Anymore info is appreciated. If I can I'll credit you guys and /mu/

Definitely defer to Hybrid Noisebloom as the best the genre has to offer. Harsh noise music sounds very nihilistic to me, and can sometimes change my viewpoint to reflect that sound. Hope you have success with your article!
>>70963742
Depending on the harsh noise, I find to be very meditative and anxiety relieving.
a lot of people use it as a sort of 'palette cleanser', if that makes any sense.
Opinions and recommendations?

Did you copy this from the /mu/core thread and then shuffled it around a bit?

I was listening back to Autechre's Exai, and it struck me that the mixing and the recording was extremely clean. But unlike, say, RATM's s/t, Daft Punk's RAM, or Aphex Twin's CCAI pt2, it's not really a recording of a live band; it's Autechre, it's electronic music, analog, and shit like that. But it SOUNDS like it was recorded with very good mics or something. I assume they didn't just take drum machines and simply DI them, it just sounds too good. Or is that the case? Maybe they have really good compressors and other hardware equipment? Anyone have any ideas on how to make electronic music sound crisp and clean as though it was recorded in a nice room with great microphones? I assume that's not what they actually did.
>>70963438
>it's electronic music, analog, and shit like that.
exai is digital not analog
they just used good equipment
incunabula sounds amazing even today and that's from 1993
>>70963486
Wait, shit, really?
Huh.
>>70963512
I feel like Exai is somewhat cleaner than Incunabula, but that might just be me.
The question is, when you say "good equipment", what does that mean? Just because you buy the same synths and drum machines they use doesn't mean your end result is gonna sound clean as theirs. Sure, good equipment is one thing, but I feel like there's more to it. Unless there are some specific compressors that they're using that makes them super clean or something.
Why would the Grammys start shit with Frank Ocean of all people, fucking idiots got smashed.
>inb4 nu-fedoras focus on p4k's silly headline and don't actually see that his points are actually valid because he insulted Taylor Ssssswift
>>70963341
>that his points are actually valid
>give all awards to black people
it's the fucking grammys
how can people possibly pretend that bullshit has integrity or meaning
>rich singer makes unoriginal observation about awards show
everyone knows the grammys suck. who cares/
Just listened to this masterpiece. What does /mu/ think of it?
what album is that?
I think that it's not a masterpiece and only teenagers would say so. I like a few songs but masterpiece is an overstatement.

Why don't people talk about this more? Collapse The Light Into Earth is one of the best closers I've ever heard.

It's fallen in my estimation over the years, I think he refined that sound better on Deadwing and FOABP, and in general I prefer Stupid Dream or his early Coma Divine era stuff anyway. Also 2 of the best songs were relegated to B-side status.
Porcupine Tree is discussed semi regularly but people here really don't like Steve Wilsons lyrics

I am currently of the opinion that hip-hop as a genre is shit.
Before all you hip-hop fans dismiss this as a bait thread like you always do when someone attacks your shitty genre, read this.
Give me the two most different-sounding hip-hop songs you can think of. Take your time. I can guarantee you won't even come close to getting anything that comes close to my pic in terms of variety, and those were just two albums that were saved on my desktop.
Hip-hop isn't innovative. It isn't fucking experimental. Hip-hop is mass-marketed garbage for idiots, and it's embarrassing sharing a website with anyone who would defend it.
DJ Yoda & Heritage Orchestra - Concerto for turntables and Orchestra
Young Lean - Kyoto
I love both of those albums but...
Blackhandpath - Egrecore
Soulja Boy - souljaboytellem.com

nice one OP!
What album will replace it now that it's a dead meme?
wtf I love Jeff Mangum now
memes don't die they just fall into a restless slumber from which they cannot awake no matter how much they want to
This isn't a dead meme what're you on about
Potato memes will always be funny, relevant, and welcomed on this board. Fuckin newfag.
Why is he the only critic that matters?
Because he's too autistic to fall for trends.
>>70963002
because all the other ones are utter shit
Only one I know of with, at the very least, interesting and unique opinions plus an above average knowledge of rock music culture and history.
What is the best stoner metal album and why is it pic related?
>>70962969
Such an astonishing album.
Welcome to Sky Valley would be another best album.
Underrated masterpiece right here
>>70963033
Is that stoner metal? It's usually tagged under alternative metal so I've never given it a try. Looks cool.
