Why does /mu/ hate this again?
I was here when they loved it.
I loved the first track because it had a really nice twinkly riff, but the album bores me
>>71027732
It starts out really well than it drops off. Still kinda like it.
Do they have anything a little harder? It's not that I dislike this album, not at all, but it seems more like a "stoner album" to me. The music just doesn't feel like it goes anywhere.
"Goes anywhere?" There is quite the progression even within just the opener and Grass. There are more ambient tracks in the latter half, but that's usually what ambient styles do: not go anywhere particularly. What do you mean?
My inclination with "harder" would be SJ (great) and CHz (not so great, but def some nice moments).
>>71027453
Well like I said, the ambient style isn't a bad thing at all. It just feels like the whole album continually moves in that direction. I'm just not sure if all the groups work is like this, or if they have albums that are consistently more substantive/harder hitting.
>>71027402
This is their worst album, half the songs are just bad, not even on AnCo standards they're just bad
you get pseuds like >>71027453 that still defend
Can someone help me out? m looking for music that fits a homepage on a website that is about music itself.

Impossible.
One year later and I think we can all agree that this was a pretty decent album.
AOTY. One of Kanye's best.
I hope this is irony

Do you collect music? If so, how many?
I've got 348 CDs, I think around 50 LPs, and 19 cassettes
>>71027091
I'm poor because I'm terminally lazy, but if I had disposable income I would love to just fill an entire basement with vinyl copies of my favourite albums like my own personal record shop. I wouldn't even listen to any of it, it would just be awesome to have all the artwork on display
>>71027140
You're talking to the guy who's bought 50ish LPs over the past 5 years and didn't even get a player until this past Christmas, I know how you feel, that's honestly how I am with cassettes and CDs to, I use to bring CDs when I was a DJ for my college radio, otherwise it was just rides with friends.
>>71027091
like maybe 400+ lp's idk desu
50+ cassettes & loose cd's that I've had since I've been a kid
Childhood is idolizing OKC and Kid A. Maturity is realizing TKOL is the true patrician Radiohead album.

I've never tried but I could give give it a go, any recs for something with female vocals
>Joy Division + Neutral Milk Hotel:
- two great albums, one succeeding album marginally greater than the last
- cult status that grew steadily
- songwriting strengths based primarily in poetry
- unskilled or only moderately skilled instrumentation / simple chords
- strengths are emotional vocals and passionate performance/execution over and above song craft
- absent lead singer which charged the band's mystique
both will probably have the same level of cult status in 20 years from now
There are tons of albums like that though.
>>71026426
not comparing the albums, comparing the bands
Nah. NMH, at least on that record, have far cooler arrangements and Mangum's voice is far more dynamic.

Why most artists refuse to pigeonhole their music in one specific genre?
80085
>>71026325
Cus musicians don't give a fuck about genre and don't want a fanbase limiting them by placing them in a certain genre, making any efforts for another sound a disappointment
I'd lick to pidgenhole my dick between those boobs if you know what I mean
