When is the point when you should give up all hope of having music be your career and just go on with the normie life?
When breath leaves your body for the last time

Never, but you will need to deprioritize it at a certain point. Make it a spare time thing, but don't stop if you like doing it.
>anything but country
Country sucks
give me some must hear country albums to change my mind

loretta lynn - van lear rose
Every single time he's brought up on /mu/ he's called derivative, but I've never actually seen someone name an artist that he supposedly rips off.
Do you guys just naturally remain skeptical of popular music or do you actually have proof?
Tonetta
Ariel Pink
R. Stevie Moore
Steely Dan
Cleaners from Venus
>>71031100
He doesn't sound anything like Steely Dan and Tonetta is trash. And he and Ariel (his current style at least) are contemporary. Don't think you can call him derivative of it.
i don't think he's derivative, he's just a one trick pony
I liked this album, to be honest.
Did anyone make anything like this now that Trump is president?
Probably a few but it really comes off as a musician being a tryhard
The anti-Trump shilling is already all over social media and the news. It just comes off as diluted when some famous musician does a FUCK TRUMP song.
>>71031110
Yeah I guess you are right. Also it probably helped that I was an edgy teen back in the Bush days.
Back then it was edgy to hate on Bush and people unironically supported the Iraq War
Today it'd be edgier if someone did a Pro-Trump song
Can music influence your political opinions? Or does your political leanings influence what music you listen to?
Grimesfags don't even know what the word "politics" means. That's for sure.
>>71030947
I love Pink Floyd's music (including the Final Cut), but I generally disagree with Roger's politics.

Good tier list.
ITT: albums that changed your opinions on artists, positively or negatively.
I was honestly pretty enthralled by OF up to this point. Saw them live (worst show I've ever seen, said so as soon as I left the theater), followed every release, #freeEarl and all that. I never went out and adopted the Supreme look, but besides that, I was all aboard.
But this just shook me loose. I bought it in a mall FYE (lol), popped it in at home, and the honeymoon was over. It was as simple as that.

Can somebody explain to me why pretty much everyone on /mu/ dislikes them?
I wouldn't call them the greatest band of all time, but they do have some really good albums in their discography.
What meth are you on that makes you think /mu/ hates SOAD?
I've seen nothing but positive stuff about them on here. They're the only metal band I've ever liked.
(Unpopular opinion: Daron was a great vocalist)
>>71030365
reddit hates them not us
I like them, I think their debut holds up best; it's fast, packed with energy and flows together really well
It's when their punk roots were most clear, but they already had their own thing going on
Definitely An impressive band overslaan
Which artists do you like from the Caribbean?
>Calypso is a style of Afro-Caribbean music that originated in Trinidad and Tobago during the early to mid-20th century and spread to the rest of Caribbean Antilles and Venezuela. Its rhythms can be traced back to West African Kaiso and the arrival of French planters and their slaves from the French Antilles in the 18th century.
>Calypso in the Caribbean includes a range of genres, including: the Benna genre of Antiguan and Barbudan music; Mento, a style of Jamaican folk music that greatly influenced ska and reggae; Ska, the precursor to rocksteady and reggae; Spouge, a style of Barbadian popular music; Dominica Cadence-lypso, which mixed calypso with the cadence of Haiti; and soca music, a style of Kaiso/calypso, with influences from cadence-lypso, soul, and funk.
