One Day
So right now I'm in the middle of my first front-to-back listen of Kid A. I've heard all the tracks separately (at least the first few minutes of each), but this is my first time just sitting down and listening to the album in order with no other distractions. I have to say, in all honesty, holy fucking shit it's so boring. I know I'm going to get a lot of angery reacts, but I just can't for the life of me understand why this album gets as much praise as it does. Is it purely due to the context and circumstances of its release? Okay well I just got to Optimistic so it's picking up a bit, but wow Kid A through Treefingers was brutal. (Yeah, that's implying I don't like The National Anthem and HTDC, because I really don't. They should both be 2 minutes long, or 3 at most, but they're stretched out to like 5 minutes with very few new ideas introduced throughout.) I'm interested to know what people find so captivating about this album, because I don't see it. Not trying to troll or flame btw, just expressing my opinion. It's mostly too ambient for my tastes, really. That might be it. EIIRP, Optimistic, Idioteque, and Morning Bell are bangers, but the rest are too repetitive and atmospheric to excite me. Then again, we'll see what I have to say by the end of Motion Picture Soundtrack...
ok
nice blog, faggot

Will we ever seen another rock star on the level of Jim Morrison or Jimi Hendrix?
>>71070345
I doubt
No, because Rock is dead. Rappers are the new Rock Stars.
>>71070345

Where or when and why did the "listen to everything except country" meme start?
that was me
>>71070320
Can confirm. It was anon back in 2003.
>>71070299
Autists like you only made it a "meme" because you're obsessed with memes. It's just an opinion that millions share for normal reasons.
Lets have a Country thread.

Lets not, actually.
>>71070323
why?
>>71070323
Hey fuck you buddy, I want a country thread.
What are some albums/songs with crazy drumming like at the start of Part 3 of Love Supreme. I can be any genre (non jazz too). Maybe even to have tribal feel, like Boredoms or Can. I just want to drown and melt my ears and body in this.
>>71070286
I'm the only person I've seen posting this album but the drumming is amazing
This is truly crazy album
>>71070300
I'll check this out.
>>71070343

lots of people are getting bored of a dude mumbling overtop of electronic beats around here, a shift back to actual instruments is inevitable
"Lou Reed said that he did not know anyone but himself who would have listened to the whole album. He also said things like he used to sleep by lowering the number of revolutions to the turntable. But even with those claims, Lou Reed continued to defend this record as one of the best things he had done in his life."
How could i tell him that i liked the album?
it's because i really feel sad when the work of someone gets misunderstood or underapreciated, i really feel the need of tell him that it was worth it, it hasn't happen to you with other underrated records or artists?
>>71070187
lou reed was a fucking liar
>>71070192
why?
that was Lou Reed luring you out to listen to this album just for some giggles
Who /earphones/ here?
>>71070083
>earphones
Absolutely unlistenable. Get some good sets of headphones.
Got some Sennheiser Momentums from a friend with too much money. They're great imo, rubber thingies pop off a bit too easily though.

Sincerely and objectively explain to me how someone who doesn't play an instrument, barely writes songs and samples other more talented musician's songs is a musical genius.
When did it become cool (on here especially; the supposed paragons of good taste) to take hip hop seriously as a form of music? Why is actual instrumental talent completely marginalised in the current climate?
>>71069857
>>71069857
cuz he made millions doing it
>>71069857
you cant. the man is an egotistical, media hungry, falsely worshipped asshole. believe me, ive tried to enjoy his music, but i just cant
About to listen to this, was it any good?
>>71069654
hey thats weird i went to the archive to get a jens lekman album while listening to this and saw this thread
its really good, kinda like kortedala-lite
Not my favorite by him but I liked the album
>>71069728
Yeah, it definitely has more of the 'quirk' found in Night Falls Over Kortedala, but slightly more mature and world-weary in a good way.
The production values are gorgeous and crisp, however. Matches the lyrics perfectly and the narrative on tracks cover things outside of just typical 'falling in love' stories.
Nice to have him back.
