why not just strive to be happy playing music you love
go with that

not OP, but for me, I'd like to spend all my time on music. If I didn't have a job and could support myself by making music, I could spend more time making music and collecting shweet gear

What music would be good to listen to while reading the book blame? I was thinking some super high tension, industrial style ambient or industrial rock.

no, BLAME! is universally recognized as a patrician manga

Post top 3 from each label.
Lets get another post-hardcore thread going. Start by discussing this album and giving me some recs (already know of hot snakes)
I've been listening to this a bunch.
>>71070848
At the time of that album release, posthardcore wasn't really called posthardcore it was just called indie rock, math rock, indie punk, noise rock, or slacker rock.
Bands from the same era as DLJ that share the same influences of DLJ, and have similar sounds, although they don't necessarily share the odd time signatures, verse chorus verse structure, and song lengths (in other words if you like Hot Snakes as well as DLJ) are...

OP, this guy knows his shit. The only bands called posthardcore that are good are atdi, fugazi, and dlj. The bands he listed are great, with the exception of Unwound which I find to be overrated.

Welcome to the weekly /mu/ jazz Blindfold Test thread. Every Friday and Saturday.
If you're new, the point of these threads is to have fun and encourage critical listening, discussion, and general enjoyment of jazz. All critical music listeners are welcome. The more participation we have, the more fun and successful these threads will be. In the interest of keeping the thread alive and bumped, any general jazz discussion is welcomed here as well.
For more information about how the threads work and listening suggestions, please refer to the pastebin: http://pastebin.com/5cjEr3A6
THIS WEEK'S THEME: Award Winners
COMPILED BY: Jazzpossu
Get this weeks list here:
http://www52.zippyshare.com/v/JmpQdqhQ/file.html
Track information will be revealed in about 24 hours from this post.
Posting with names or tripcodes is encouraged as it makes discussion much easier.
#makeblindfoldgreatagain
It's awards season and this weeks /blindfold/ is all about winning awards. We'll be winning so much that you'll get tired of all the winning by track 7, but we'll keep winning until the end.
Every track this week comes from an album that has won some sort of a jazz award or poll in 2010 or more recently.
Meta discussion on awards and their role in jazz today is welcome - commercial garbage, stuck-in-the-past drivel or a good way or recognizing deserving musicians and raising awareness of contemporary jazz?

I'm waiting for somebody to post Piper so I can laugh at him for being a massive pleb.
What's thoughts on Pink Flag?
>>71070745
Most "fun" Wire album. Not as experimental as their later stuff, much more of a straight punk rock record.
I can't really say I prefer it to Chairs Missing, but it's easier to listen to for sure.
START TO MOVE
>>71070830
Chairs Missing would be the logical next album to go to then? Just starting to get into them, really like Pink Flag though.
>>71070745
Don't know why people insist on calling it post-punk when it's clearly just punk
Fun but the songs are way too samey and therefore gets boring/tedious around the halfway mark. Chairs missing is their best album though wire are very overrated compared to other punk/post-punk bands
>Rapper raps about money, drugs and bitches
>>71070631
