This piece consists of two parallel 2 parallel equal temperaments
(A440Hz and its -50cents one) .
So in a sense it's 24 equal temperament but of 2 different parallel 12 ET. See how micro(chordal) cadences and chord progressions go with these differently tuned temperaments.
Wouldn't two 12EDO scales separated by 50 cents be exactly the same thing as 24EDO, since 12EDO tunings have semitones separated by 100 cents?
>>71085901
yes same thing as 24EDO but the concept and how to play and compose is different
>>71086331
I'm at work, so I can't listen. Is one just doubling the other?
Let's settle this. Is pic related any good? What is /mu/'s verdict?
>>71084941
about half of it is good yeah
fuck no. this is awful. boring, bland pop "punk" with a dash of pretension, also every song sounds the same
>>71085032
it's not even really pop punk
it's pop rock or power pop if anything, some of it is kinda indie dance (Nails For Breakfast, Camisado, Time to Dance obviously), some of it has chamber pop or dark cabaret influences (the single and actually everything after the intermission), so it's definitely not samey
and come on the cocky kind of swagger is funny, brendon is a great frontman for this type of stuff
How do I deal with friends and family ridiculing my taste in music? One of my friends actually threatened to beat me up when I put on some Beat Happening because he said it sounded like "faggot ass queer shit." (I live in the south so homosexuality is deeply frowned upon).
listen to better music

It is faggot ass queer shit, keep it to yourself and your faggot ass queer friends.

you are very committed to your taste
i enjoy that
>there are people who seriously think this is a good album
Why?
looking back now, it's the dumbest shit ever, but it made so much sense as a 15-year old
Same reason they think Pet Sounds is better than Orange Crate Art.
>>71084372
this. as an angsty teenager it feels like the most gut-wrenching angry album ever made, and that feeling ended up inspiring a lot of great musicians
So I'm trying to get more into QotSA. The first album I've listened to of theirs is Era Vulgaris, what should I listen to next?
It doesn't matter. Theyre all good.
>>71084308
You listened to one of their shittiest albums first.
Listen to their self titled album, Rated R and Songs for the Deaf.
That's all you need to hear.
>>71084308

I got you, senpai.

Oddly enough I find it to just be really relaxing in a way but this is unsettling for most people I know.

ooh i wanna take ya
I've been getting into some 2-step/UK Dubstep but one thing that really stands out to me is heavily chopped samples and unconventional song structures. Any recommendations /mu/? I'll post music in a similar vein to what I'm looking for just in case I'm not explaining this well.

She's friendzoning you hard bro. Back when I was a teen this girl I was fucking would mess with this nerd by leading him on, he would make her mixtapes, write her romantic letters and then we would laugh at him when we hooked up.
She looks at you like her annoying little brother, not a lover
not dropping it today boys
How do I get into Yo La Tengo? I tried listening to this album a few times but always find myself losing focus and diverting my attention to something else. I like the opening and closing track, though.
>>71083543
Yo La Tengo is a pretty subdued band because, you know, dream pop. Try I Am Not Afraid of You..., it's probably Yo La Tengo's most interesting album.
Check this out

I like it as background music for other stuff mostly.
Good background music can be pretty rare
