I'm really new to jazz music but i would like to get more into it. I have listen Herbie Hancock-Head hunters which was actually really good and I have tried to listen Miles Davis - Bitches Brew but i think its too boring. Please recommend me something interesting jazz or jazz type of music.
>bitches brew
>boring
>:(
Try listening to Moanin' by art blakey, time out by dave brubeck and out to lunch by eric dolphy

Jazz is music for musicians. It's hard/impossible to understand the significance of 'Kind of Blue' by Miles Davis if you have zero understanding of music theory. So, I would recommend learning an instrument. It takes a lot work but it will transform your entire perspective on life and art
>>71088963
try hancock - sextant, it's really eclectic and electronic.

Is experimental music also a result of degradation of traditional values due to "cultural marxism" just how PJW suggests is the cause for modern art's existence? Does liking experimental music make me a leftist?
We'd still be listening to church choral music and slavery/work songs if not for experimentation.

Why can't we have these threads anymore? we can have joanna newsome, grimes, lana del rey, and waifu threads, but we can't do lavren threads anymore?
>>71087626
Hoo hoo ha ha tampon goo goo baby
>>71087626
we have Lana threads because she got so fucking fat lmao.
And all those Waifus make interesting music unlike Lavren.
>>71087639
we can have like 4 grimes threads at one time and those don't get deleted, same with the other threads.
why does she trigger so many autists?
she literally did nothing wrong, her songs don't even play that often on the Radio and she is one of the most likeable musicians out there yet she is one of the most hated musicians on the Internet.
It's really a puzzle to me...
People can't believe a pretty girl can be successful by her own design.

Where have you been for the last 20 years? If you want to be a successful "musician", looking great is almost ubiquitous. Same applies to males.

Welcome to the weekly /mu/ jazz Blindfold Test thread. Every Friday and Saturday. Friday thread died, so here's another.
If you're new, the point of these threads is to have fun and encourage critical listening, discussion, and general enjoyment of jazz. All critical music listeners are welcome. The more participation we have, the more fun and successful these threads will be. In the interest of keeping the thread alive and bumped, any general jazz discussion is welcomed here as well.
For more information about how the threads work and listening suggestions, please refer to the pastebin: http://pastebin.com/5cjEr3A6

hourly bump
Reveals start in maybe 4 hours, so there's still time to participate
Shame nobody else is participating this week... I found most of these tracks to be pretty good. Better than I expected anyway.
The mourning period for Pi continues.
The point of these threads is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to and ideally discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily, these people are in it to venture "out of their comfort zone" by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.

Chemistry is the worst. No idea how I managed to pass it, I've always been god awful at math.
What's your favorite Byrds album btw? I've been meaning to get into them. Only heard Sweetheart of the Rodeo so far.

I love this
What day jobs did famous musicians do before they became successful, /mu/?
I know Trent Reznor used to work as a janitor at a recording studio (they let him record Pretty Hate Machine on the off hours), Merzbow did real estate (you could rent an apartment owned by Masami Akita, for real), multiple rappers were drug dealers, Flying Lotus interned at Stone's Throw Records, and that's about it.
art garfunkel taught math. and jay z sold drugs.
Lars Ulrich was a garbage man. One day he started banging the lids with sticks and the rest is history.
>Being a drug dealer is considered by some people to be a job
