I won't judge the music before I can hear it because that's fucking retarted

But I will judge the album art
0.2/10 what the fuck happened
All the other albums had beautiful cover

What's the name of that older pop song with a piano in the chorus? The piano is playing 3 notes over and over in different chords and the notes are sort of descending. There's a male singer who sings softly. I think at one point he sings about riding on seas. I know it was made either in or before 2003.

Is he a melancholic?

Just deeply impacted by what goes on just like anyone else, like he said, it's impossible not to feel it. It is rather centric on tragedy but so is his other stuff but this is a different release.

Why are you all obsessed with melancholic, listless and mundane music?

How do you even treasure music that doesn't make you feel anything? What does it do for you?

I'm not shitposting, I'm honestly trying to understand. Five years of trying to understand and appreciate the artists /mu/ talks endlessly about has only left me baffled and disgusted. I mean, it's ok to listen to an apathetic album every now and then, but that is literally all you have listened to for half a decade.

I get it, I'm an antisocial introvert with autism who has been very, very deeply hurt in the past too, but even my charred and crumpled soul needs music with more emotion beyond "meh life sucks I guess".

How do you do it, /mu/? How do you listen to and fangirl over depressioncore incessantly and remain content and fulfilled by it? I honestly want to know because trying to discover it on my own has left me a very, very morose person.

Now this I find interesting.

In short... it's valid, though I do agree it's a fuck wad way to appear intellectual, and people who are quick to bring this up are too fragile for differing opinions... but lets break this down. Is it possible... now stay with me... that there is an objective universal truth, some unwavering mindset that prooves the best way a human can live and be of most value to the human race. If there is... this may prove the measuring too from which we may be able to judge everything, including individual works of art.

Maybe there are too many variables in play NOW... but maybe one day, the truth of everything will be known.

Does anybody here listen to drone or dark ambient? I barely ever see it get discussed.

Been listening to drone for years. very calming and atmospheric stuff that doesn't get enough love.

A local radio show plays ambient and drone on Monday nights. I don't know many artists though. Although I do recall one artist is Steve Roach.
It's good to go to sleep to.
>>
yes

My favorite Drumm drone is that one tied with Tannenbaum depending on the day. Tannenbaum to me is perfect, glacial drone and if I lived in a place that snowed it'd make for a great listen to just hear and see through the experience.

Steve Roach is top tier, his discography is great to listen through (though I recall not liking the Magnificent Void)

Depending on what they play, either quite good or quite bad.

They play their rock focused stuff well. Anything that requires anything more fancy (i.e strings) they don't pull off well. They used to do it well, when they bothered to spend the cash to get string players to play in concert with them. Now they do shit like attempt to play songs like "Burn the Witch" on guitar. It doesn't work well.
