it's SUPPOSED to sound like shit, don't you get it?
>what am I missing?
Nothing. Rap is shit. Only high schoolers like it.
disregard the 'rap is shit' opinions OP
whatchu been listening to? gimme some examples
How does /mu/ feel about Weezer?
Blue and Pinkerton are 2 of my favourite albums ever. All their stuff after is garbage but white was a good return to form that I enjoyed.
I only like Blue and Pinkerton. I don't buy the return to form meme. I think White is trash, just not as trash as some of their other releases like Make Believe.

plebs that think they're subversive
>Man, rap today fucking sucks bad, I don't give a fuck what anybody says. These fools ain't spittin' no type of dope shit, but that's not even the bad part; they're not even saying words anymore. They just got a hard-ass fuckin' beat to trick dumb-asses like you to make you think you like the shit. Play that fuckin' beat! We got some real fuckin' mentally retarded rappers in the game. I know for a fact nobody knows what the fuck these dudes be saying! Wait, turn my reverb and my auto-tune on real quick. This what the fuck they be doing

Heathen is the spiritual precursor to Blackstar
So what do you think about this album /mu/?
Sounds pretty neat to me
Super nostalgic about it myself
Checked out the instrumental version of this the other day. I love the lyrics on it, don't get me wrong, but it's really neat to get deep into the arrangement side of things.
Probably one of the best hip hop albums of all time imo. From what I've gathered its one of /mu/'s favorite albums.
talentless hacks

I like their early stuff.
Just downloaded this and it's fantastic.
What are some other quality Impressionism albums? Who are the essential composers? Solo piano music in general would be great.
Here's another favourite
>>71347668
I'd give chopin's and field's nocturnes a go. Also ravel's piano concerto in g and faure's piano works. Though these aren't really impressionists, but they are composers that impressionists took inspiration from. Go for debussy if you want pure impressionism.

Why is The National regarded so highly?
I'd rather listen to Liars, Women or even Vietcong.
Have they ever done anything even remotely interesting or did they get where they are by playing it safe.
I've never understood the appeal of the national.
It seemed like music designed by a company to appeal to the twenty something that sees the emptiness of consumer culture but isn't bothered by it enough not to buy Wayfarers and to not have pursued a finance degree. He has no real strong political opinions but acts liberal when girls are around and if forced to take a position would more often than not come down conservative.
Someone that will inevitably have a midlife crisis and buy a boat or sports car to fill that empty place in their souls that should be filled with genuine human connection.
But, hey. Maybe I don't get it.
Talented guys and good lyrics for popular rock music, solid discography. I don't think anyone puts them on some pedestal of greatness, but they're undoubtedly a very solid band. They "got where they are" by writing good songs that speak to the middle class, and touring the fuck out of them.

The national is one of the best post punk revival/indie rock groups of the 2000s. What kind of ridiculous generalization is this?
how do you write lyrics?
>>71347288
You have something you want to say and you say it through the written word.
If you have nothing you want to say then don't get involved in anything creative because it won't be good.
