Why have the BNM's been so shitty this year?
Out of the 10 so far, I've only enjoyed like two of them.
What's the new Grandaddy going to get?
blanck mass will get 8.6
Why does this album get so much attention when Atomizer is clearly the pinnacle of Big Black's discography?
(not true: by the way)
Same reason MPP is the album that gets talked about instead of Strawberry Jam, just more popular.
>>71417600
It has a more memorable title and cover.
Someone explain this copypasta
>Oh I'm really into avant experimental music, Merzbow, Boredoms, Gerogerigegege, Coil, Throbbing Gristle, Whitehouse, Nurse with Wound, Einstürzende Neubauten, Brainbombs, Egor Letov, Death in June, Current 93, La Monte Young, Moondog, Lou Harrison, Henry Cowell, Luigi Russolo, Popol Vuh, Fishmans, Jean Jacques Perrey, Les Rallizes Dénudés, Rainbow Caroliner, Taj Mahal Travellers, Fushitsusha, DNA, Peter Brötzmann, John Cage, Scott Walker, Unwound, Dead, Frank Zappa, Morton Feldman, Captain Beefheart, Pharoah Sanders, Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman, Alice Coltrane, Arnold Schoenberg, Pierre Boulez, György Ligeti, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Nang Nang, Haruomi Hosono, Thinking Fellers Union Local 282, Nara Leão, Basic Channel, Raymond Scott, Delia Derbyshire, Daphne Oram, Noah Howard, Terry Riley, Peter Sotos, Lula Côrtes e Zé Ramalho, Boyd Rice, Mahmoud Ahmed, Henry Flynt, Kazumoto Endo, David Tudor, Aporea, Half Japanese, Mega Banton, Secret Chiefs 3, Keiji Haino, Ramleh, Otomo Yoshihide, John Zorn, Joe Meek, Robbie Basho, Phil Spector, Faxed Head, Harry Partch, Frances Baskerville, Wesley Willis, Fred Frith, The Residents, Sun Ra, Sun City Girls, Hans Krüsi, Royal Trux, Jandek, Yat-Kha, Loren Mazzacane Connors, Pärson Sound, The Dead C, Comus, Cromagnon, Eliane Radigue, Arthur Doyle, Shizuka, The Red Krayola, Henry Cow, Magma, Opus Avantra, Pan.Thy.Monium., Murmuüre, Ksiezyc, Gong, Cukor Bila Smert', cLOUDDEAD, Muslimgauze and Kaoru Abe

Well most of them

the idea is that these are entry level, or that by listing such an encyclopedia of artists instead of any movements or genres they're just being a poser.
Like if you asked someone on /mu/ to describe some of these artists they probably couldn't do a good job of it.
"Goodness" is fairly subjective.
The concept is that the poster in question does not really like these acts but is instead trying to make themselves look intelligent.
It's also a way to shut down discussion, like any memes or copypastas
>tfw I can't talk about music with people irl because they're all plebs
>tfw this board used to be my escape
>tfw I used to love talking about obscure music here
>tfw the board is overrun with underage plebs who unironically listen to shit like Twenty One Pilots and Young Thug
>tfw waifu posting is out of control
>tfw I can't even come here to discuss music anymore
Has anybody else ascended past this board? I think its time for me to leave. I whole-heartedly believe that I'm sharing a board with a bunch of 15 year olds who listen to the radio.
Yeah, I feel you. There's no saving this place.
>tfw you've ascended past /mu/core and listen to bands early material to get creative fixes like early Korn
early Korn is great, Issues reminds me of Amnesiac.
>>71417560
Not Korn, but I know what you mean. I enjoy listening to an artist's very earliest recordings, when it was real.
I got a pretty decent amount of weird tracks I made on ableton.
I want to put them all in an album and you know, get some cash with it
the problem is, will ableton know i pirated their DAW and sue my ass if i try to make money out of my tracks?
Only one way to find out
Are you retarded?
how would they know..?

Musical of the YAY?
Where should I start with Ty Segall?
>>71416562
His latest album would actually be a good start. I would listen to either Melted or Goodbye Bread after that. You should be able to listen to anything after that.
Although, Manipulator is his most cohesive record so maybe you'll find that to be a better start.

Listen to someone with talent that's not just a spoiled rich kid. I'd start with Jay Reatard.

For a piano audition I have to create my own jazz arrangement of a song. I'm working from a lead sheet, and I'm having a bit of trouble making it sound jazzy. I know enough theory to add extensions to the chords and some harmonization. The thing I'm having trouble with is keeping the left hand part interesting so it isn't just a chord every bar. Also any advice on what to play with my right hand aside from the melody will be appreciated.
Any tips? Thanks :)
Nobody here knows anything about music.
You would have better luck asking literally anybody anywhere else on the internet.
This board is shit.
voice the chords with both hands. Try playing tenths or sevenths with your left hand and then add the thirds and any other color notes into your right hand voicing with the melody notes at the top. Add chromaticism wherever it sounds good.
>>71416101
That's a good idea, should I vary the rhythm in my right hand between the chord tones and melody? Also do you think I need to add any sort of interest beyond playing nice chords?
I've heard this iterated countless times "ironically" but never have I heard anyone explain why it's supposed to not be true
It makes complete sense to me. The Beatles were a generic boyband that completely changed their image to sell more records and they innovated nothing

This is unbearably pretentious and annoying
That's fine we all have different tastes :)
Yeah, that album fucking sucks.
Next thread.
it's by definition decidedly not pretentious
what annoys you about it?
