I had my girlfriend listen to Dragonforce yesterday. She really liked the magical/mystical sounding segments and liked the almost celtic sounding melodies. She did not however like the speedy drumming. (Odd that the speedy guitar playing didn't bother her. Lol)
My question is if there's any bands that might have a similar sort of epic/mystical/Celtic sound while still being hard rock or metal? And not necessarily specifically celtic music.
what the fuck
Also, not something with over the top symphonic sounds either

Why are you so prejudiced against "jam bands" /mu/? You're completely ignoring an entire scene of great, original music, shows that you can see today whose production blows most other artists out the water. For those that say there's no musical merit to it, how can you say Phish's "You Enjoy Myself" or The Disco Biscuit's "Magellan" are un inspired shit? Have you even given it a try? Or is it that since you have to get most out of the band by seeing them live, that automatically excludes most denizens of /mu/?
i like jam bands kinda

I'm don't want to count myself as a part of this shitty board, but I like written out compositions.

Phish sounds like extraordinarily pretentious quirky hipster shit just from their Wikipedia page, so that alone has completely turned me off from anything remotely similar to them.
I just cried to the lyrics in the track Saint Pablo, what am I becoming?

I've cried to Brian Wilson before so you're alright.

Everready: The Religion and Killer are his best albums, but I don't listen to them that often because they are 2-hour long double albums.
Like Buckethead and Prince, Tech N9ne's prolific album releases just mean he releases a lot of shit. The last good Tech N9ne album was Something Else in 2013, and he's released four albums since then.
Imagine being so GOAT that an album gets thrown together from recording sessions that were disastrous because of conflict and the finished product is still one of the best records ever made.
(Psssst.......Naked is better)
The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as “the greatest or most significant or most influential” rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

I'm the opposite. When I play loud it sounds like arena rock tier stuff. And my adrenaline gets pumping and I literally bust out guitar solos of legend. Everyone in the neighborhood gathers near my windows and women start having orgasms in the street.
Will /gg/ pitch another fit in this thread because no one takes them or their opinions seriously in real life or online?
None of you will ever have 1/10th of the success Kirk Hammet has had playing guitar.
Why do you think that is?
