So I just listened through the entire Beatles discography, why is this the most unoriginal and boring album they made, and why did they choose to follow this up to a masterpiece like Sgt. Peppers? This album is utter trash.

>why is this the most unoriginal and boring
What's unoriginal and boring about it?
>and why did they choose to follow this up to a masterpiece like Sgt. Peppers?
Because they chose to follow-up Sgt Peppers with a film; this is a soundtrack to that film, not necessarily meant to be an album as Pepper was.
>>71507223
The overall pretentiousness of it makes it boring, they tried to hard unlike at Pepper it seems to me, especially Strawberry Fields and I Am the Walrus, just dull boring songs.
I also to watched the film and it's god awful compared to Yellow Submarine or any other movie they ever did.

>The overall pretentiousness of it makes it boring
How is it pretentious? Do you know them perosnally?
>especially Strawberry Fields and I Am the Walrus, just dull boring songs.
What's boring about those specifically?
>I also to watched the film and it's god awful compared to Yellow Submarine or any other movie they ever did.
What was your least favorite scene and why?

Hey /mu/, I was wondering if I could get any recommendations for a good Prog band or song/album. I've recently King Crimson and some of The Mars Volta (specifically songs from their Frances the Mute album), and was curious what some other good things to listen to would be.
Apologies in advance if this is something more fitting to, say, /wsr/, I do not lurk anywhere near enough on here.

Battles records are basically prog rock, and have a very interesting and original sound, you might like them.
Check out Can - Future Days and Yes - Close to the Edge. listen to everything King Crimson put out up until Beat. thats about as much as i can help.

Rhythm is the most pleb musical element, right?

it's melody
I know it sounds crazy, but I legitimately believe that some of the following artists have written songs about me: Eminem, Dr. Dre, Volbeat, Garbage, Lana Del Rey, NIN Radiohead, Bush, Method Man, Avenged Sevenfold, Device, Dawes, Godsmack, Stone Sour and several other. Not even exaggerating, I even believe the title of Drake's Mixtape "If You're Reading This, It's Too Late" is meant to convey a message to me. I'm just lost as to how long this has been going on for, and why me? It's gotten to the point where certain songs cause me great anxiety, because I perceive them as 'diss tracks'. The only explanation I can think of is a couple years ago, I tried to launch a band called Rabbithole. I joined many prolific music industry groups and tried to contact many well-known artists, such as those I've mentioned. I put out some videos and songs on YouTube and SoundCloud that were moderately well-received. Maybe somebody saw something they liked or disliked, or maybe aspects of my personal life became public. Whatever the explanation, I always feel like people know me from somewhere now. Disclaimer: I smoke a lot of pot and am high as I type this.
Nobody's gonna weigh in on this? Shit keeps me up at night.

So we all agree it's not perfect and has some filler tracks. If you'd make it 10/10, which songs would you delete?

It seems like within the last few months mu has slowed down a ton. Threads go unanswered, and most of them that are answered have 4 replies before they die. Even collage and rec threads die out within half an hour because they only get 4 posts. Do you guys just post once and then walk away from the computer for hours? Are we just bored because it's too early in the year for AOTY threads? Or is /mu/ simply dying?
because it's dying

This album. I still haven't listened to it because I feel I'm not prepared to appreciate is properly. I want to listen to every other album that even remotely interests me before listening to Trout Mask Replica. There's absolutely no way it can be as complex as described. I even like all other scarufficore albums.
I treat this album as the final boss of entry-tier music.

Weed will help immensely, this album is a synesthetic's wet dream, so is Loveless and Twin Infinitives. If you don't have that gidt like some of us have to isolate sounds and visualize them, you'll never see this album for what it really is.
When it clicked for me, and not just "Oh this is good!" Like- REALLY clicked, it overwhelmed me with a feeling of happiness and absurdity that I was grinning through the whole thing.
It clicked when I heard Hair Pie: Bake 1 followed by the transition into Moonlight in Vermont is probably the greatest transition of one song into the next I had ever heard.
