>>71625985
problem?
for an album with some great heights, it has so much filler and skippable tracks.
>>71625976
yep, it's an OK album.

Are any /mu/tants on any private music trackers? If so which ones? Which do you prefer and why?
If you hate torrenting and prefer to stream music or strictly buy, etc. post that here too.
>>71625935
I'm on Apollo and Redacted. currently prefer Redacted because it has a bit more obscure stuff and they gave every user 50 fucking freeleech tokens for this month.
>>71626061
I'm on both of those as well. I'm really enjoying those 50 FL tokens. Currently have 29 remaining.
I'm a PU on Apollo and a Member on Redacted (wish it was the other way around for the invite forums on RED)
Is there anything you would recommend?
Yeah those tokens expire in a few weeks. Until then I don't know what to grab from redacted.
what does /mu/ think of this?
3/5
I like it but wish it was more like the first song
>>71625941
fair enough, the first track and silent treatment are my favorites. The others are somewhat forgettable however i feel
>>71625925
its good but dumb flesh was a lot better
Have you listened to the AOTY yet?
>>71625883
If you don't recognize the cover, it's Hot Thoughts by Spoon
>>71625883
It's great but I don't think it's AOTY, could end up in the top 25 for me
I liked They Want My Soul a lot more, this one doesn't have as diverse a sonic palette as that one did, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
>>71625883
No I haven't yet but anyway, it definitely won't be album of the year. It's by fucking Spoon. If your album of the year is by Spoon then you might as well kill your fucking self.

hey
Does anybody else ever get tired of every thing around music? I greatly enjoy discovering and learning about new music and I do it every day if I have a time but god damn if the people and reviewers the most headache inducing thing in the fucking world. I can't mention an album without somebody wanting to talk down to me for my opinion on it or wanting to get into some kind of dick measuring contest over who has the ''best taste' I recently got into a silly little discussion with a friend over my opinion on Aesop Rock's debut album. He dropped the phrase ''Not supposed to'' followed sadly by the words ''Rank it over''. Yeah, I feel like it's a 9/10 and you don't. Nobody is wrong and nobody is right, Who fucking cares? Fucking two days later I stumble upon a stupid as fuck argument in a comment section over Death Grips. Some chainsmoking bitch with a ''Vlog Art'' series about blending food was trying to prove her point that all the stands for is some lost fight club style macho dream. Sadly, The Death Grips fan base did what they do best and made themselves look like bunch of retards. Pasting quotes from ''i want it I need it'' Isn't going to convince a communist feminist to take them seriously, Just let it go. The Cigarettes will speed up her already rapid decline. Just rest easy on that. The lack of civil discussion around opinions just fucking kills me. I don't even know why I come here. it's not like you guys are any better. Fuck, Sometimes I find a thread that makes me feel better about the internet and sometimes I see people arguing over what it means use ''meme'' as an adjective. Sometimes I want to cancel my internet and try to find new stuff from exploring record stores only. maybe I'll be happier that way.
Rant over
Anybody else like this?

4/10
I enjoy music discussion most of the time. Not here on /mu/ though. But don't be faggot and if you don't want to have a discussion just don't do it instead of acting like somebody is forcing you to it.
It's your fucking problem.

Is any of Sonic Youth worth listening to other than Daydream Nation?
Yes. Everything released before that album is better. That album is overrated as fuck.
listen to everything scrub
>>71625747
care to elaborate on why you think it's over rated?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFEftsKAUvY
Don't mine me, just being the best song ever written.
sorry, did you mean to post 1979?
>>71625712
By Starlight is the greatest song on the album. There's a lot of filter towards the end of the second disk but that song redeems it all.
>>71626014
i love the sequence of cute songs in the end of the album
daily reminder if this isn't your aoty. you are a piece of shit

>>71625517
i sincerely have no fucking clue who clicks on this shit
there seems to be a huge market for kids who like to watch other people "react" to music (i.e. black dudes acting like they've never heard xxxtentacion and then nodding/screaming/dancing along)
Remember in the 80s when people said "rock is dead" by then a few years later there was shit like Guns 'n' Roses and Whitesnake in the mainstream? Well people have been saying that since probably 2010 and no band had filled that void yet.
I mean you could argue Coldplay, Maroon 5 and Imagine Dragons are filling that void but that's really stretching the definition of rock. Is rock destined to be the new jazz? It will never have mainstream attention again and only used as elements of maybe a hip hop or pop song?
It can't be because Rock is still able to adapt itself to being modern dance music, but that depends on what you mean by 'Rock'
>>71625626
I mean't that as a response to the question "Is rock destined to be the new Jazz"
>>71625637
Jazz was never really popular, at least not in the way that we may see today. It's different times, the music scene was more local, so a guy like Miles Davis wasn't popular anywhere besides US and some parts of Europe. As for rock, I think that the charts are kinda of wrong rock bands are still popular, I think that because rock music shifted from being a single oriented genre to an album oriented genre the charts wouldn't reflect their sucess. By the way, just to spark a little more discussion, I think that with the recents albums like Anti, Lemonade and Views, we are experiencing a new resurgence of the studio album in the popular crowd.
This album sounds like no other album ever
>inb4 Dan Deakon, Deerhunter, Black Dice, of Montreal, The Olivia Tremor Control, Black Moth Super Rainbow etc.....
No, none of these sounds like MPP
>>71625489
its over the top sound was certainly inspired by funeral and ITAOTS, but yes that album is pretty original
Dan Deacon's Bromst sounds like this
>>71625489
I'd argue Olivia Tremor Control is pretty similar. It's not EXACTLY like MPP, but you can definitely hear AnCo borrowing a lot from them.
Linkin Park has somehow gotten worse than they already were.
