Hey /mu/! Big Prog rock fan here.
I was wondering if y'all can point me towards some new Prog rock bands. I know the big-name ones: King crimson, Yes, Genesis, Rush, Pink Floyd.
My question is, what are some other prog rock bands that I should listen to? King Crimson is my favorite, as my dad introduced me to them a couple years ago. I love them, but they only have so many songs, and after awhile they get stale.
Also, what is JJBA? I see it in the comments of King Crimson videos on YouTube.

>"John and I had decided that Paul and Ringo had to have acid," Harrison said, "because we couldn't relate to them anymore. Not just on the one level – we couldn't relate to them on any level, because acid had changed us so much. It was such a mammoth experience that it was unexplainable. It was something that had to be experienced, because you could spend the rest of your life trying to explain what it made you feel and think. It was all too important to John and me." Starr joined them: "I'd take anything," he later said. "It was a fabulous day. The night wasn't so great, because it felt like it was never going to wear off. Twelve hours later and it was, 'Give us a break now, Lord.'"
>McCartney, though, declined the suggestion. "We'd heard that you're never the same," he said in Anthology. "It alters your life and you never think the same again. John was rather excited by that prospect. I was rather frightened by that prospect... never get back home again. I was seen to sort of stall... because there was a lot of peer pressure." Lennon and Harrison wouldn't forget his refusal.
what a bitch
I respect him for not caving in to peer pressure desu

Anyone has a fetish year in music?
For me it's 1997, 1998 and 1999.
the greatest album ever made (bone thugs n harmonys east 1999 eternal) was released in 1995.
so i'd say 1995.
66 and 67
best 2 years ever desu
1965-1969, the most revolutionary years in popular music
ITT: Radiohead song titles that lie to us.
I'll start:
>2 + 2 = 5
>Two plus two actually equals four
>No Surprises
Surprise, it's yet another shitty Radiohead song
>I Might Be Wrong
>There's no "might" about you being wrong
Jigsaws can't fall into place you have to like push or click them in. Or what if it's only one piece? Then it'd be falling but there's no place.
Was there a more abysmal period for music than the early 2000s?
>>71714280
The late 2000s
Nu metal seriously wasn't even that bad.
>>71714326
Well you had this, post-grunge, and the commercial R&B traces from the 90s
ITT: yfw you realized this was the actual AOTY of 1967.
Get offa /mu/, Christgau.
>>71713294
banana album is better
>>71713479
Christgau is almost always full of shit, but this was one of the three times he ever got it right. The other two times were when he gave King Crimson - Red an A- and blew Limp Bizkit the fuck out.
Post your AOTY charts, collages, 5x5s, 4x4s, 3x3s, or just your singular AOTY So Far.
Discuss / rec / rate / have fun and don't kill yourself until I say you can.
Nothing substantial worth mentioning yet really. Hoping Ulver, Gas, or Toby Driver change this.

Tonight we'll be voting on the second half of the first round.
For discussion:
Which albums did you root for in the first half?
Which album do you think will win and why?
Which albums should've been included in the tournament?
Does this tournament have the potential to reshape /mu/ and /mu/core?
How often should these tournaments take place?
Which albums do you think will pull through into the second round?
Which two albums from the two big feuds will win (YKH vs Yeezus, TMS vs Sgt. Pepper's)?
Which albums did you expect to be winning, and did they meet your expectations so far?
