Back when The Flaming Lips were good.

The Flaming Lips are old news. Tame Impala is the new king of neo-psych.

Tame Impala sucks. Neo-Psychedelia is the least creative genre in existence.
Listening to the terror first time. I wonder if its any good

hownewru?
They don't even play the same way anymore, every show has been boring and lacking any soul, they FUCKED UP Crazy for You, their new music sounds like music you would find pre-loaded on Garage Band used for some shitty documentary, and my biggest issue:
Everyone is obsessed with Rachel. Rachel is like an old washed out hag who is excited that her life got shiny and fun again instead of being boring and fat and sad with her disabled kid. She is the face of the band- I've even seen concerts and shows who advertise for "Slowdive" with big pictures of her ugly old face. Which is a sick joke when you consider that the only real musician or writer in that band is Neal.
Swans reunion was the only reunion in the history of music that was worth it.
All bands suck after reuniting
>>71857580
>>71857582
I wouldn't call it a reunion but MBV have never become losers, their new album was just as genius as their old ones and their shows are just as hip.
gay overrated and sucks why do people listen to these guys!

t. numale
Because Leviathan, Blood Mountain, and Crack the Skye were awesome. We'll never get that from them again though.
>>71857326
none of they're stuff is good!
Well, Grimes? It's been almost a year and we're still waiting. Does she really hate her fans this much?
a year is a long time
who cares about grime girl anymore
>>71857104
Couldn't care less about her music, but I do care when an artist makes an empty promise & never follows through. What a cunt
rate/rec/guess personalities/usual shit
I recently started listening to at least one new album each day
>>71856756
heard maybe 20% of those :(
>>71856935
possibly could get along, have u just started listening to death g?
>>71856756
We would really get along. I love Jank and The Menzingers
How contrarian are you?
i agree on elliott smith and boc
>>71856437
people don't think I'm contrarian but they're wrong
>>71856437
Hollinndagain is the contrarian/superior album
>>71855888
Even the lyrics on this album aren't good, it's the most generic shit about death I've ever heard.
sad lyrics ≠ good album
>>71855888
according to rym
whiny vocals + bland songwriting + generic """""emotional""""" lyrics = AOTY
why are you people so mad
we get it, you don't like an album that other people do
stop whining
Here are the essentials
Also of note:
>The Rita - Thousands of Dead Gods
>The Goslings - Grandeur of Hair
>Adult Swim's NOISE comp. (pleb but listenable)
>WOLD - Screech Owl
>Coil - Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil
>V/A - Extreme Music From Japan
>V/A - World Record
>Deathpile - G.R.
Noteworthy Merzbow:
>Tauromachine
>Venereology
>Door Open at 8am
>A Perfect Pain (with Genesis P-Orridge of TG)
>OM Electrique (disc one of the Merzbox, listen to the rest if you're an absolute madman)
>Electric Salad
>Space Metallizer
>Noisembryo (be sure to read up on the Merzcar)
>Music for Bondage Performance (1 & 2)
>Pinkream
>Hole
>Hybrid Noisebloom
>1930
>Pulse Demon (duh)
>Merzbient
>Multiplication (with John Wiese of Sissy Spacek)
>Batztoutai with Memorial Gadgets
Amlux and Merzbeat suck but are easy to get into, other digital-era crap includes Dharma, SCSI Duck, Merzbird, etc... None of them are very good, but obviously form your own opinions of them, this is just the general consensus.
All the Merzbowris collabs are good and listenable
It's worth looking into the discographies of every artist mentioned, as well as
>Aube
>Puce Mary
>Händer Som Vårdar
>Whitehouse
>Consumer Electronics
>Vampire Belt (noise rock)
>Esplendor Geométrico
>Winterkälte
>Toshimaru Nakamura
>Ramleh
>Hanatarash
>Incapacitants
Record Labels to browse:
>RRR
>Extreme Music
>Tzadik
>Järtecknet
>Posh Isolation
>Susan Lawly
Sufjan Stevens made a noise song one time, it's a good example of noise without the nuance of an artist who's a noise artist by trade.
A couple of the above artists aren't strictly noise (some err musique concrete or other subgenres), but they typically share fans.
Don't post noise rock unless it's genuinely more noise than rock.
Album/artist/label suggestions for the pasta are welcome.
Now that that's out of the way, no entry-level noise below this point.
And lastly, only plebs EXCLUSIVELY /merzbowworship/, but only contrarians NEVER /merzbowworship/
Happy noiseposting.
Is there harsh noise made exclusively with guitars and shit? Like dissonant chords and lots of effects, use of feedback, etc. I want harsh noise made with traditional rock equipment.
>>71856688
Sufjan's piece is mostly acoustic if I recall
The Goslings use real instruments, it sounds like really harsh shoegaze
That World Record comp has some acoustic stuff on it
Sissy Spacek has some stuff that isn't glitchy electronic noise, most of their stuff is extreme punk/grindcore
Some of The Gerogerigegege is like that too, albeit in a different style
Some of Merzbow's early stuff uses nontraditional instruments, but still not raw gear, OM Electrique has some drumming and guitar
Noise rock like Vampire Belt
Are you guys ready?

Why is /mu/ garbage now? What happened to that weird sense of community?
>muh sekurt cluhb!!!
>>71852417
Exactly. Why is /mu/ garbage now? It's all memes. There's no balance anymore.
Fuck off to Reddit if you want community and intellectualism. Or find yourself a nice general mosey on in. This is /mu/, home of the deep fried memes.
