Brand spanking new edition. Hopefully this thread survives long enough to start another one.
If the title wasn't obvious enough, this is a general for all things tropical music. A couple of anons and I felt as though the board could do with a bit of content diversification, and as a result created this space specifically for the discussion and dissemination of music from the tropics. If I have more time later I'll help to compile an essentials list.
All tunes from Latin America, Africa, the East and West Indies, and all of Earth's other tropical regions are welcome here.
Now let's just pray we make it past 50 replies.
This edition's questions:
>What tropical genres do you like?
>Do you think /mu/ needs more tropical music?
>Why isn't this music more mainstream/accessible where I live?
Flashstrap stuff or what
OP here. Starting this thread off with my favorite album of all time (and one commonly lauded as the greatest reggae/roots work in existence):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzRNPrsfuDY&t=1s
Favorite song on this one is "Sodom and Gomorrow"; it's just so hauntingly beautiful.
>IN THE KING'S PALACE
>HE SMOKES HIS CHALICE
"Open Up The Gate", "Ark Of The Covenant", and "Nicodemus" get special mention for their power, though. Otherwise, pretty much every song on the album is amazing to me. Hopefully you'll like them too.

Flashstrap works. "The Hands I Love" is a pretty good piece. The rule is, that as long as it originates tropically, it goes. I'm more of a reggae anon myself, and I can contribute a lot in that regard.
But anything you have and want to share in that vein to please your fellow /mu/tants (including Flashstrap) is fine by me.
*makes this your favorite Ween album*
don't do that
yeah but that's the worst Ween album.
no matter how hard you try to make it my favorite it never will be.
Having a favorite Ween album is like having a favorite skin disease.

>>72286886
shit song worst on the album
It's ok but why end your Coachella set with one of the weakest songs
>be in a jazz appreciation lecture
>talking about jazz fusion
>lecturer randomly asks if anyone in audience has listened to instrumental rock
>raise hand, not really thinking much about it
>apparently nobody the fuck else raised their hand because the lecturer looked right at me and asked me to name a few examples
>caught off guard and wanting to avoid awkward silence i name the first two bands that come to mind
>still a brief awkward pause
>namedrop GYBE and EITS
>too awkward to even name patrician instrumental rock
>blank stare from lecturer
>tfw an entire lecture hall of strangers know i'm autistic now and a smaller portion of them think i have shit taste
/mu/, give me some surefire ways to escape this hell?
Welcome to life anon - you're generally going to be surrounded by turboplebs

Is that you, John Wayne?
Was Buddy Holly really that good in his own right, or is he just famous for being first and inspiring a generation?

>>72292220
He has one of the best discographies of any original Rock n Roller. Could have been the one to survive into the 60s and carry on innovating desu.
>>72292234
He cucked Little Richard, and Little Richard says he was hung like a stallion. Absolutely not a nu-male.

Choose one
Coil, Nurse with Wound or Current 93
Also, pictured is David Tibet with a really nice girl
I prefer Current 93.
I think Coil is the most consistently impressive across all they did. From the electronic-y Black Antlers and Ape of Naples era to early industrial Horse Rotorvator, the industrial dance of Love's Secret Domain, Dark Ambient and drone of so many of their other other projects, coil never disappoints me.
I love current 93 for all the exploration through neo-folk but i personally can't really stand their early industrial stuff. A Special Plan For this World is just amazing though, but i've listened to it so many times and love it each time I do again.
Nurse with wound is probably what I've explored the least, but Soliliquy for Lillith is really the only album that stuck out to me as great. Many times i feel like I enjoy Stapleton's work more when it's interspersed throughout Current 93 albums.
i choose neither. coil is just a weird band for deranged gay people that dabble in the occult, and you belong in a mental institution if you even think you enjoy current 93
What is some entry-level patrician metal? Anything fun and catchy?
