Does anyone else find this boring as fuck despite loving the rest of his work? It's simplistic to the extent where it doesn't engage at all like his later albums meanwhile it doesn't have the layers, length, and other general hypnotic feel aspects of his earlier stuff to justify the straightforward almost non-changing repetition.

I definitely don't consider it his best work. It's not a bad album at all but R+7, Garden of Delete, and even Betrayed in the Octagon are much better.
Can someone explain to me what makes her so special. I like a lot of her tracks, but why is she better than all of the other lofi moody dream pop bands?
she has good grasp on melody/composition.

Shes talented
atmosphere, excellent melodies, the occasional great lyrics
can make a softly plucked series of notes hit like a truck
So we all know about their early albums, but has anybody listened to their most recent albums from the 2000's and 2010's? I listened to the Ghost of Hope and it's pretty depressing in a good way. Why are there so depressing now?

Can't say I care for either of those. Sounds kinda corny IMO. Pales in comparison to their early work. The fact that they weren't really musicians worked to their advantage on their 70s and 80s work and yielded interesting and unique results. Now they sound like they have at least a competent understanding of music and better equipment so they can make stuff that's just "lolsorandom!" but as a result it's just dry and boring synth music with a shit vocalist.

They kinda fell off in the 2000's, but I think they're coming back. The Ghost of Hope was pretty good imo. I they've always had pretty depressing undertones (Duckstab, Not Available), but I think they're trying for the depressing shit on the ghost of hope, because it's a fucking album about people dying in train wrecks. That's not exactly a very happy topic. There's an interview out there where Homer Flynn talks about why they chose train wrecks. Apparently one of them just really likes trains, and they've been wanting to do a train related album for a while. They just chose train wrecks, because it was kinda edgy and it narrowed it down to a topic they could actually write an album's worth of songs on.
This is the best album of all time prove me wrong. Protip: you literally can't.
Prove yourself right. Protip : you literally can't.
If it's the best album of all time why is it shit?

Saving up for a good guitar and I'm torn.
I would love a Gibson SG but also a Gibson Firebird. Which is the better choice?
the SG can be a bit narrow in tonal possibilities. It lacks the warmth and thickness of other Gibson guitars. I'd opt for the Firebird, although it has two disadvantages to the SG:
1. Its weight
2. Its lack of a double cutaway neck, making it more challenging to access the higher frets
>>75064209
Non reverse firebird is the Patrician choice

>want to buy an sg

Marvin Gaye sang of loving one another and saving the planet in 1971. It's been 45 years, and his words still hold true. These lyrics could've been sung today, and they would be just as right, all politics aside. It's a beautiful message and he conveyed it well.
What are some other albums whose message transcends time?
