Is this actually worth having an ear for?
It's not nearly as bad as some people make it for. The only songs I'd really say are duds are "We Suck Young Blood" and "A Punchup at a Wedding", but all the others are engaging and memorable. "Where I End and You Begin", for one, might even be a contender for the top 5 best Radiohead songs ever.
>>73352842
yeah, there's a handful of really good songs on there - 2+2=5, Backdrifts, There There, Sail to the Moon, We Suck Young Blood, Punchup at a Wedding - and even the misses are fine, they meet the band's high standards. It's a better album than In Rainbows or Kid A.
>>73352842
2 + 2= 5, A Punch Up at a Wedding, Myxomatosis, There, There, A Wolf at the Door and Scatterbrain are all pretty good.
ITT: 10/10 albums that are never discussed on /mu/
>>73431965
There are none. If this album were truly good, it would be part of the /mu/core canon.
The fact that it's so little known that it's not even discussed here indicates that it fucking sucks.
Now fuck off back to listening to vinyls on your Crosley, you fucking hipster!
If you find an album that's a 10/10 that /mu/ doesn't know about, don't post it here, it could get made into a meme
>>73432004

I love this album
definitely one that gets better with every listen too, since i was kinda indifferent first and now i absolutely love it
also spinning away is a fucking masterpiece
discuss why you chose music as a career
also, discuss how you did it for others to learn from
ill start. i chose a music career cause i sucked at everything else except music. i basically "did the grin" over and over again until I started getting more gigs and more opportunities. pic related. became a fan of htbams blog, started doing his shit, worked. now im more focused on building my fanbase etc. my goal is to be a touring musician. i guess we all are gonna make it in the end
fuck the music industry

Pretty fucking good mane.
First I was a life coach but I wasn't reaching the masses and I couldn't really inspire the world.
So I channelled my chakras into music and truly ascended into a form beyond death, beyond the self, beyond the Tijil project.
Now it is truly my turn.
>>73352760
I'm not really involved in this, but a few close friends are currently trying to get into it. They produce techno, are already well integrated into the local scene, which is decent for a city of our proportions, organize raves and shit.
It's not much, but in the last few weeks and months a lot of cool shit happened with them, the music they make is great and I'd like to see if they manage to be successful with what they do.
Listen to Father Figure right now and tell me it's not one of the best songs you've ever heard. Protip. you can't.
Well I can because I do feel that way
I will be your Father figure /mu/
Everything She Wants is better imho
Is anyone else just still amazed at how much Spotify has changed and improved music listening? How much easier it is to listen to a variety of artists and albums and get introduced to new genres, artists, and playlists?
It's absolutely insane.
I admit it yeah.
Yes goyim it is truly a wonder of modern society!

What's /mu/'s opinion on Rush? What's their best album?
Hemispheres boi
I like them because they give me an oldschool sci-fi kind of vibe.
One of the more interesting prog groups to listen to as well, they changed a lot through the years

Why do people like trap rap? I've come to understand it as just another stupid trend, but it's not even melodic. It's all just syncopated TR-808 beats with some mumbled syllables structured into triplets.
>one of my favourite bands playing in my hometown tomorrow
>it's avant-cabaret-punk-darkhouse-garde-wave

Why does this feel so cheesy /mu/? Is it me or is it really just an old irrelevant trying to get some easy money on the back of his success from the 90s?
Ice Cube likes to pretend like he is a great rapper with a storied legacy when he really just had a few good years of rapping and then turned to acting in teen comedies because he can't rap anymore.
He's an absolute joke.

Well at least the video has diversity in it.

does anyone here know anything about RECORDING MUSIC? In particular old 4 track gear?
I picked up a tascam 424 mkiii and a 'really nice compressor' and a sm57 today at a flea market today for peanuts. then went out and bought a universal audio 710 pre because it seemed too cheap to pass.
anyway, i'm having trouble using the compressor or hooking it up anyway to the 4 track or really knowing how to use it general, though i get what compression is. Do I hook it up before my preamp then into the 424? If I've already recorded a track without using the comp, is it possible after the fact and how would I use it then since it obviously wouldnt do anything given it being in line with the input signal? thanks for any help folks and hope it can possibly help someone else.
>>73352471
Just use Ableton. Nobody fucking uses actual gear anymore. Get with the times
>>73352502
my computer is for porn and kazaa only
>>73352471
>thanks for any help folks and hope it can possibly help someone else
that seems delusional
Holy fuck why did no one ever tell me about this band
>>73352456

I love these guys. Thanks for reminding me they exist. I wore the shit out of Spilt Milk in high school.
>>73352456
One of the best bands of the 90s and yet most don't know about them. Pretty unfortunate.
When did you discover 6lack?
Inb4 “when that Kardashian girl posted an Instagram of his hit single PRLBMS”
That is an awful name. I can understand 'CHVRCHES' but '6LACK'? Fucking christ.
>>73352961
he's from East Atlanta aka Zone 6
>>73352442
Start of Jan. I hadn't listened to anything new in a while and a friend told me to check him out.
Has anybody actually used this pos site in the last decade?
>>73352416
allmusic.com? no
allmusic.com/album/artist-mwnumbernumbernumber? yeah dude, all the fucking time. maybe I should just join rym but I am definitely reading the allmusic review of most of these jazz albums I'm impulsively downloading, as accessed from its wiki page 90% of the time. Because if I'm looking something up in the penguin guide to jazz and they've got some weird preference in an artist's discography, most of the time Allmusic can give me conventional wisdom or whatever. or maybe not, but two opinions are better than one maybe haha jesus
