Chillwave will never die
Thoughts on the new Queens of the Stone Age single? Personally think the guitar is a little too overpowering and tacky but like the vocals and drum beat.

Anyone got any of these? Thinking of getting one for my birthday, they seem so great, deep, if a little hard to learn, but seems to do near everything I need in one box. Not a fan of using laptops for music (save for a few things) and much prefer hardware so this seems great. Thoughts? Opinions?

Yeah, I got one a year back and fell in love with it. If you think the work flow is interesting from some of the tutorial videos and you have a decent chunk of change saved up I'd say it's worth the investment.
There is a pretty steep learning curve on this machine, but the depth of sound design possibility is pretty staggering once you get your head around all of the functions. Just using it as a FX processor can be deep as well because of the per step parameter locking. MIDI sequencing external gear is also neat because it utilizes the same per step MIDI CC locking.
The arranger page is enormously powerful too. Almost brings the machine into DAW territory, with the ability to sequence live sets and detailed songs.
If the octatrack is too much money, I'd opt for getting a digitakt. I haven't played one myself yet, but it has a lot of the same core features, but it goes for like half the price
