he's had a consistent vision for his music and art pastiche since he was teenager. some of his output has been really enjoyable, but he's never really transcended his influences.
like, Quintin Tarantino and Mike Patton are both nerds who have just vomited their regurgitated influences up and sometimes made works more interesting than their initial inspirations, in film and music respectively. Rob Zombie has never really pulled that off, god bless 'em.

Probably a really entry-level comparison, but SZA feels and sounds a lot like a female Frank Ocean to me. The production is pretty stellar, too, it has got to be said. Definitely one of my favorite albums released so far this year. That said, I can totally see why it might be a bit commercial for a lot of people here on /mu/ tho.
Any thoughts?
