Is thrash metal the logical conclusion to rock and all guitar-driven music for that matter?
>>73750485
wouldnt that be Post-Rock?
>>73750523
That's the gay artsy way that rock went which led to a creative dead end. Whereas, thrash metal went in the most pure rock direction by being louder and faster and more energetic and catchy and more technical and skilled than the original rock, then the hard rock, then traditional metal. I say Thrash metal instead of black metal and death metal because thrash metal is still recognizably a descendant of rock, pushed to its furthest boundaries.
I wish we could reach the logical conclusion of "logical conclusion" questions. In the way you're putting it though, yeah.

For a lot of people, heavy metal is today's real rock-and-roll, the music of the people. It's basic, it's rude, kids love it, parents hate it. But a closer look reveals how stupid and delusory it is. Metal is not basic--it cultivates a pseudo-virtuosity that negates content. The values it promulgates are foolish and often destructive. Eighty percent of the "people" who like it are male and 98% of them are white.
Christgau? more like Christgay lol
>inb4 triggered mealfags
I'd say that Rap/Hip Hop is a lot closer to being today's rock than metal is, despite metal obviously having roots in rock. Both appeal to restless kids, but hip hop is way more universal than metal will ever be.
Has any one else noticed the mirrorception in this album?
>>73750171
Yes there's something about it.
>>73750171
Honestly I actually somewhat enjoyed ummagumma. on acid.
the narrow way is a great song though. I dont know why I like it. there is a bit on it that makes the song great

Thoughts on Mac? Ive really been grooving to his songs lately, its really chill. Was pleasantly suprised he was a solo artist. Pic related and This Old Dog have been great listens.
he's a pretty good guitarist but his writing gets pretty boring after the first listen. his whole discography has been in a decline starting at rock and roll night club with the exception of "some other ones" which breaks up his done to death formula of pop songs about love and break ups. his strengths can't make up for how bland his newer sounds.
>>73750023
his strengths can't make up for how bland his newer stuff sounds*
>>73750023
exactly my thoughts. his production can be really good, but the lyrics can be really bland. i mostly use his music for sleep which works wonders imo
Record store employee here. I want to hear about your personal record store experiences, whether they're good or bad. Also, I might answer a few questions, but I won't be answering all of them.

What do you do all day? Working a a record store sounds comfy.
i live in minneapolis and there's this awesome record store that's about the size of kitchen but the quality of albums is great and the owner is an amazing guy that will talk to you for two hours straight about anything music related. he was in a new wave band in the 70s or 80s and had his album produced by albini

I really like Carry Stress in the Jaw. I think it might be my favourite Bungle track. The riffs are killer and I like how it veers off into what seems like improvisation and free jazz a couple of times. Kind of reminds me of Storm & Stress, and I know Storm & Stress came after Disco Volante. The second half is funny but not jokey enough that it ruins the song imo. The contrast between the two halves oddly works to the song's strength, and they're both equally memorable for different reasons.
>>73749655
This album is really good. Carry Stress in the Jaw is definitely one of the highlights.
All the Bungle albums are GOAT tier but Disco Volante is the best album by far.

how do you faggotrons do it
I barely remember song titles either, only albums.
I just remember album names and the names of the songs that make me go "oh, this is very nice". Other than that, no.
>>73749639
maybe has something to do with how youre listening. as in, what media player or streaming service youre using. if you just have random songs playing on a playlist from spotify then yeh, youre not gonna remember the names, but if you watch your media player you'd be more familiar with song titles/tracklengths
