I was never young
Nothing has transpired
But when I look in the mirror
>I feel dead
>I feel cold
>I am blind
I AM A LINEMAN FOR THE COUNTY
AND I DRIVE THE MAIN ROAD

Only caught the last few seconds of Pinegrove, normally I come to Pitchfork stream to meme and make fun of kids but the show looked good and the crowd was good too.
Complete opposite of that other show with the DJ rapper dude a day or two ago. Anyone catch the whole thing?
Why did she put a jazz/swing song in the middle of an electronic/trip hop album? It feels weird and out of place.
I think it's a good break from the rest of the sound on the album and is also probably her best singing performance wise, I think it's perfect where it is
the album sucks, radiohead REALLY sucks and your life is not working out because you are wallowing in the belly of the dark whore

Is not really electronic, that album is probably the most rock record thet have post-ok computer.
Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
Vs.
Tim Buckley - Happy Sad
Both of these albums are favourites of mine but I have to say Astral Weeks is quite a push ahead as an album ahead of Happy Sad. Both are folky jazzy albums and are pretty similar actually but there's a whole 10 minute song on Happy Sad that is a miss for me (Gypsy Lady). I feel like whilst both have a good aspect of melancholy, Astral Weeks is more consistent in mood, more spiritual and the jazz elements are executed much better. Morrison's voice is more soulful; he uses his voice in the same way that Coltrane used his saxophone, as if it were some other instrument.
Tim Buckley is a great artist, but his album is a little more "comfy" (the best word I have to describe the difference, comfy vs. transcendent).
Feel free to call me a pleb =)

Spot on I think. Astral Weeks is nothing compared to Lorca, however, especially in terms of consistent atmosphere. That album chills me to my soul.
I could never get into Happy Sad. Lorca is Buckley's only album I listen to.
My rank would be Lorca > Astral Weeks > Happy Sad.
That said, Astral Weeks is great, even if it isn't super interesting.
Who else doesn't listen to music?
I've started to make my own stuff about a year ago, since then when I'm on that gay vibe to have fun, I either sing my songs or play some new riffs and chords, oh, except Aphex Twin, I do listen his stuff for hours, but I don't really consider his albums as music, It's more like a drug. I used to love pop music so much, and still do actually and write basically similar stuff, but listening to music seems kinda dumb, all those repetitions and emotions squeezed out with some touchy melody lasting for 3 minutes is really cheap. Have you had same kinda thing when listening becomes really boring? Is it gonna end soon?

>all those repetitions and emotions squeezed out with some touchy melody lasting for 3 minutes is really cheap.
jesus

i dont relate to much about what you're feeling. but i used to care 1000% about music when i was in high school and then college came around and i just cared less and less. you have to put work in to keeping the interest alive, which i didn't do. if you dont bounce out of it, you may end up listening to top 40 radio stations for 3 years like me. The quality of the music i was making was best when i cared about listening to other music.
>all those repetitions and emotions squeezed out with some touchy melody lasting for 3 minutes is really cheap
Well maybe if you looked past the top 40 you wouldn't think that
Thoughts?
boring
Great

Your pic is the reason nobody is replying to you.
How would you design a perfect (ie no one *doesn't like it* it) album?
for example, we have many highly praised albums that are:
1)
>great pop song
>great pop song
>slow song
>great pop song
>song you might skip
>experimental or weird song
OR
2)
>experimental or weird song
>experimental or weird song
>experimental or weird song
>experimental or weird song
>maybe a pop song
examples of 1):
Beatles rubber soul and after
most David Bowie albums
OKC
Pet Sounds
Led Zeppelin albums
examples of 2):
Godspeed You Black Emperor! albums
King Crimson albums
Loveless
Velvet Underground
personal favourite:
SIDE A
>great pop song
>great pop song
>great pop song
SIDE B
>experimental or weird song
>experimental or weird song
>experimental or weird song
