What do I do /mu/? I go through phases like this for a few horus every day but it really sucks and I'm wondering if more experience music listeners know a way through this horrible feeling. I just feel like every type of music I can possibly think of sounds boring to listen to. everything from ambient to pop music to harsh noise. What do I do??

Take a break anon. Throught all years that's the only thing that helped me: isolate yourself from music for a while. You're simply desensitized. Or maybe all music is really boring and you're just getting woke. But honestly, try to get out of your comfort zone and find some new genres. I was overloaded with lo-fi hip-hop and psychedelic guitar music, thank god for this YouTube recommendation now I'm into Japanese electro house: watch?v=_2quiyHfJQw
Flower Boy is okay I guess, light 7/10 911 is my jam
Start listening to good music. Pro-tip: if you find this boring you have shit taste.

The problem is the culture. Nowadays people think being an ultra-sensitive pseudo-nihilist hypocrite that will argue you down over language semantics, but pretend as if they're better than you and that they really don't care while arguing, is cool. They also think being a drugged and swash-buckled dumbass is cool as shit and "is the way to have fun, bro!" Add these two together, and pop culture is like a droning baseline.
Because of this, people can't have simple fun anymore. It always has to be "ironic" fun, "drugged-induced" fun, or "demonizing activism" fun. You can't just make fun of someone anymore, or make a song anymore, you have to add some bullshit moral politics to justify it.
With no simple fun, entertainment becomes a chore to get through. Everything seems calculated, processed, developed with zero passion and a variety of drugs only the initiated know about. Say what you want about any time before now, but at least the music sounded fun to make.
